...to project seems to be the way to keep my muse entertained, and I've certainly been doing that this past week. I started creating the paper for my next star book
and it looks decidedly different from when I started on hot press watercolour paper with a flurry of stamping.
I finished a bookmark that had been sitting on my table for weeks and weeks and weeks.
I created a card with a skeleton leaf I found months ago.
And I finally finished working on that large piece (well, two pieces actually) of Typar I started last month.
I have also started a 20 x 16" painting, which is at the really boring stage right now (that is much preferable to the ugly stage which is my least favourite part of painting 😖). More on that next week - or month - depending on where the muse leads me!
Hope your week has been both productive and fun. I look forward to hearing all about it.
Wow, you HAVE been busy! Lots to love here, but I’m partial to those wacky Christmas trees!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on that, Rochelle - they're fun and (reasonably) quick to do, and make a great break between the larger projects!
DeleteSo many projects on the go and the finishing or pieces. The Tyler fascinates me and I look at the piece I have wondering about the possibilities.
ReplyDeleteSo many projects on the go and the finishing or pieces. The Tyler fascinates me and I look at the piece I have wondering about the possibilities.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing what you do with that Typar - truly the possibilities are endless given that it takes paint, gesso and more. It can be used anywhere leather would be used as well.
DeleteSo you weren't really put off from making more star books then :)
ReplyDeleteI think the creative mind needs more than one project. After all, what would you do while things dry, otherwise?
Unfortunately most of my projects are boring at the moment, but I'm looking forward to starting some new ones in the new year. Let's see if a dose of sunshine changes the colours and shapes I use.
Well, the next star book will be a slower make for sure...I'm going to be painting all the papers for the purpose, and taking some time to complete it while I'm working all all the other 'paint dries'. :D
DeleteI'll be keeping a close eye on your sunshiny pieces when you get moved - I suspect that heat will permeate things for a good long while!
Sometimes Coming here is like going to a foreign country with whole new words like Typar and hot press watercolor paper. Luckily I know what a skeleton leaf is, they are so cool I love them. I like the way your stamping peeps through the watercolor. All your project are wonderful but the last page is amazing... Great job girl friend.
ReplyDeleteI have been having so much fun working on Halloween pictures that I have let everything else fall by the wayside. I takes forever to put them together because I have to find little pieces to get then right.
Like my Headless Horseman needed three different horses, two riders and a cape to look right. Anyway that's my story of woe...lol Have a Happy Halloween if there is Halloween in Canada. And take care of you.
Hugs, Deann
Welcome to Winmania - is it any wonder that I fail to master any particular medium when I'm drawn to them all? Whereas you, my friend, have done such amazing digital pieces that I'm constantly in awe. I've no doubt that headless horseman took days to create - it's something that just had the creepy skin crawling down my back, and up again. And yes, we most definitely celebrate Halloween here - as long as I can keep the candy meant for the kids out of the hands of the sweet-obsessed adults in the house. :D Happy Halloween, you wonderful creep-master! xo
DeleteHo wouaouh! So many marvels Win!! They are both treasures of your creativity, but the last one is so awesome that I keep looking at it, and again, and again... Thank you for beeing there and being the one you are my friend. Hugs
ReplyDeleteThanks so much on all counts, Sim. I do like that layering on the Typar house wrap, and could go on, on the same piece, for months. It's really hard to stop! ;-)
DeleteLooks like Mr Mojo has gone mad this week! you have been a busy lady. Loving it all and the Christmas cards are so cute too. Have a lovely creative weekend too. Hugs, Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteMad indeed, Angela, and likely because I was in the house all week with a nasty cold. What else to do, then, but play? :D xo
DeleteWow, you've been so busy Win! I really like those paintings mounted on the wood panel - those oranges and reds are just wonderful! And the typar pieces are out of this world with all those colourful patterns. Must look into typar! Enjoy the rest of the weekend - it goes too fast! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm such a fan of hot colours, Zsuzsa, and those two pieces called for a strong display! You'll love the Typar house wrap when you get to it...it's as strong (or stronger) as canvas, and takes any kind of medium with ease!
DeleteI love your work! Colour, colour and more colour. Those cards are very funky.
ReplyDeleteThat's so kind, Louise, coming from an artist of your calibre! I'm having a blast with those cards, I have to tell you! :D
BESOS
Thanks so much! The book will be a while as I'll need to create the papers for them, but stayed tuned, as I see you're planning to do. Looking forward to see what is on your desk this week! ;-)
DeleteWow, you were busy! Love all the colour, makes me happy ! Hugs, xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks, Corrie - you're such a great colourist yourself that I've no doubt you enjoyed this particular post!
