Gelli Side Up!
***Warning: You're about to get hooked, whether you're a mixed media artist, a quilter, a fabric artist or just love to play with colour.
The Gelli plate is a durable surface for mono-printing paper, fabric, canvas and body parts, if need be! In this three hour playshop, we'll use both fabric and paper so you can try both. Paint, paper, texturing implements and the use of a plate, along with half a dozen fabric swatches are provided; you can bring your own 9 x 11 fabric swatches if you’d like to print more than the six supplied.
If you need in-depth knowledge about how colours work together, or want to ramp up your comfort level when choosing colour combinations for painting, decor, quilting, embroidery, etc., this class is for you. You'll learn more than you thought possible about colour, and yes, there is homework and you'll love it!
Previous participants say this about the workshop: 'much more than I could have expected, and I'm hooked', and 'far exceeded anything that I could imagine'.

Gelli It Up!
The Gelli plate is
a durable surface for mono-printing paper, fabric, canvas and body parts, if
need be! In this playshop, we'll use it with paper and mat board, but
all techniques are transferable. Useful for collage, backgrounds, fabric
swatches and much, much more, you'll have more fun than a dozen rats in a food
maze.
Using fingers,
paint brushes, brayers, texturing tools and our infinite imagination, we'll
layer colour after colour to achieve some outstanding results. Best of all,
you'll take your own Gelli plate home so you can keep it up.***
Into the Mandala
This one-day workshop is an introduction to the world of mandala creation.
The word 'mandala' means sacred circle in Sanskrit, and the creation of mandalas is a way to access the inner spirit. All cultures include the form in some manner, and the very nature of life is mandalic.
You can access your own personal nature and learn how to create mandalas (no drawing experience necessary) in this class, working from a geometric pattern, and through to freehand intuitive pieces.
Mixed Media Mayhem
Are you lacking technique, but have the soul of an artist? Looking for a fun way to stretch your creative muscles? This course is for you. You'll learn 10 ways to create a surface for your painting, as many ways to add new layers and found objects, and the steps necessary to complete your painting to archival standards.
Previous participants have said this about the course -
'Feeling creative but stuck in a rut? Take the Mixed Media Workshop with Win Dinn! Win is one of those creative people who brings out the artist in all of us and you learn so much from Win! Even if you have never picked up a tube of paint or drawn a stick person you can create a beautiful piece of art. The only limit in this course is your imagination! My daughter and I took it last year and what a blast! Paint, tissue paper, seeds, beads, glitter and more paint, mixed and layered until you had a vibrant, interesting piece of artwork. Kerry Hart', 'absolutely fantastic! I've learned so much', and 'I don't want it to be over' and 'such an exciting and inspiring class...left my head spinning and opened up a new world of creativity for me', and 'Just great! I feel inspired, am leaving with motivation to carry on and trust myself' and ...'have learned to look at things in a totally different light'. 'Thanks from one with very limited (ie none) artistic skills.'

The best part is the ease and fun of creation. Cost is $45 per person, with all supplies and instruction included to create at least 4 sheets of paper.
Paper can be framed, used in artwork, or wrapped around a treasure for someone special. Or, follow up with Painted Papers 102 and learn more uses.

A Strong Finish!
Bring your starts, ideas and passion for mixed media to this
workshop. We'll work from the bottom up
to finish those pieces that are in 'art limbo'.
Beginning with the background, we'll determine what will make a rich and
interesting middle ground to show off your foreground to perfection.
Four two-hour classes (10 am to noon) each Thursday morning will give you the chance to work in my Creston
studio setting, pick each other's brains, and maybe even steal from the
instructor's stash to bring those paintings to completion. Your supplies include your own acrylic
paints/brushes/spray bottle of water/gloss medium/water container/palette knife and
any background starts you choose. Let's
get down and get at it.
