. . . that is my brain will surely explode with this latest book puzzle. The star book is truly a lovely artist book form, and I've been wanting to try it for a long time. My grey matter, however, may not be up to the task again any time soon.
This is the second model I've made, and I managed to reduce my errors to one major and two minor ones, all ultimately hide-able. It's a huge improvement from my first go, believe me!
Though the pockets are not yet filled, the bones are there, and I can move forward to a 'final final' when the mood hits again.
Never has my pile of several-pounds-heavy art books had so much use for pressing those glued layers together, either.
It looks gorgeous - love the colour combo and can't see any 'errors'. Any new book form is a bit taxing, isn't it, as you get your head around the written instructions. Even with pictures it can be a bit of a puzzle. But I'm sure you'll be churning them out by the dozen very soon :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tracy - and it's a good step on the path of mastery of the star book form. Dozens? Well, maybe a couple more. :D
DeleteVery cool!! Well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rochelle - one more book form in the cabinet! ;-)
DeleteThese have always been one of my favourite projects though they do take time to make and I can't wait to see what else you come up with. I have acouple of old ones here on my blog if you'd like to see them. Hope this link works: https://angelacuttingandcarving.blogspot.com/search/label/star%20books
ReplyDeleteHappy creating, Angela xXx
Those are lovely star books, Angela - thanks for sharing them. They are, indeed, a time-consuming project, but well worth the effort, I'd say. I'm looking forward to trying another! Happy week, my friend!
DeletePleased you like them. I think once you start with these the project turns up again and again. Sending hugs, Angela xXx
DeleteYou KNOW that's going to happen, right? Right! :D
DeleteIt is great Win. It seems very difficult though. I admire your effort. I like bookbinding but I prefer the simple methods! Kisses, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mia - while challenging, it's such a beautiful book form that I'm determined to master it!
DeleteWin, this is a show stopper. The cover compliments the star book richly. Even though it sounded arduous to do, the results are incredible.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Eileen. I love this book form and suspect I'll do another very soon (just have to put the right papers together and get my head on straight! :D ).
DeleteGood on you! This looks amazingly complicated.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Allie. It was complicated indeed, made more so by the very loosey-goosey directions I was initially following. Once I'd worked my way through and re-written them, it was somewhat easier. There is a while to go before it would be considered finished, given that each of the fourteen pockets 'should' have a piece of artwork card in them, but that may or may not happen. It was the form I wanted to get into my head, and I think another attempt might just do that!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Win you have outdone yourself! This book is stunning in every way and I can appreciate the time and thought you put into it.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, Laura - I'm so loving this book form and hope that repetition does indeed aid comprehension, one of my Mom's favourite sayings. :D
