and the Muse is argumentative, it's obviously time to obey her. This in-progress painting is getting darker and darker (reminds me of 2024 generally). Last week it went from mostly red to very colourful.
This week it went crazy with additions until the colour changes were enough to make the eyes bleed.
Parts of it had me so happy with the range of colours,
and shapes,
and textures. I can hardly imagine where it's heading from that high contrast Wild and Dark photo at the top.
I did manage to get some pony beads for and on the mini fabric-painted journal. I've added a pencil to show scale as sometimes those who see my completed book projects are shocked by the size, very much larger or smaller than they expected from the photos.
I'm not sure what will go in this travel journal, so we'll wait with bated breath on that, shall we?
And just in case you were concerned I was lazing about this week, I did, finally, get started on my Christmas cards. About time, right???!!!
How's your week gone? I'm just going to pop over to see when I finish my coffee!
Those three close ups are most intriguing. They remind me of my dye work that is over-dyed one or two times more. Our processes create a depth that you wouldn’t get with directly painting.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Eileen - when I think about the 30+ layers in the last large painting I did, it becomes a blur about the how-I-ever-got-there, knowing it's not something that could be duplicated by anyone, including me. 🤔😉
DeleteOh là là! It's a festival of colours, shapes and textures! A real feast for the eyes! Everything exudes the joy and deliciousness of life. A real delight! Every visit to your home reconciles you with existence, dear friend. Even if the painting has become much darker, the eye is drawn first to the silhouette, whose colours explode and radiate.
ReplyDeleteI also really like the little notebook, and you were right to put a pencil next to it, I imagined it to be much bigger. Go and find out why... And finally, I realise that your workshop, on the other hand, I imagined it to be smaller, but in fact it's big, so you're lucky!
Enjoy it and keep on making us enjoy it! What happiness!
Big THANKS for sharing.
( Thank you too for your kind and intelligent comments during your visit :).
So many thanks, Sim - your comments are always so welcome and insightful.
DeleteI'm smiling at the pencil and studio comment - makes me think of the Doctor Who - it's bigger on the inside. ;-)
Sending hugs, and much colour your way (not that you need it, since your work is always luscious with it!).
Oh Win, I really love your foray into black. So beautiful with the colors peeking through. And so different then what you usually create. It's like a walk in the night.
ReplyDeleteI always like your books. Someday I am going to get brave and try making one myself...lol
I hope you are keeping warm up there. After a blazing hot Summer and Fall we dropped into the 40s today. I can't imagine how cold it is up there. Sending you warm wishes and big hugs my wonderful friend.
Deann
Thanks, Deann - there's no telling where this will end up, but I do love a good contrast! ;-)
DeleteI hope you try making a book sometimes - I'm sure it would be outstanding in all regards!
Our temperatures have dropped as well - overnights are freezing now and I think Halloween will be a very cold one! Sending warmth and hugs right back, and colour fun to the max. xo
Wow! That first photo is so dramatic, it really captured my attention. Love it. And I'm a sucker for books, so loving the addition of the beads on your travel notebook.
ReplyDeleteSo this is a late start for your Christmas cards?! To get any to the UK they have to be posted so early that I don't even bother any more. Sad but true. I concentrate on the installation and giveaway for church instead, which I *have* started to think about. (Though not *do* anything about, I must add).
Thank you for your kind words on my posts, and have a good week.
Thanks, Tracy; this is a departure that may or may not work, but it's satisfying to get a different take on the year, nonetheless!
DeleteIt is a very late start, and most unusual for me for cards...they may or may not make it around the world in time. And if they don't I can always blame the postal services involved. :D
Good wishes for your week right back at you, Tracy, and if there is any possibility of 'doing', I'm sure you'd be the person to get it done! ;-)
Wow! that's a lot of colour. I smiled when you said there is much to be said for living in a more populated area as Lincolnshire where we live, for it's size has fewer people and more animals and fields full of plants but we do quite well here because we live close to the city. However if you ask people in other parts of the UK where Lincoln is they probably couldn't tell you and we like it that way. Things have moved on since the first part of the new university opened in 1996. It's a very small city with lots of green space but does have what in history was a very important cathedral and castle. It's like having a bit of both worlds. Take care and have a good week. Hugs Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteYour area sounds fabulous, Angela, and I'm always intrigued by the events and surroundings of your part of the world. And I know you bless all that green space - your love for it shows weekly! Happy week to you!
