The studio is...

... a happy place, always.  This week I've been playing with collage as a prep for making more bookmarks on Saturday.

I have a special fondness for the feathery look of that triangular Unryu paper...itsn't it lovely?  There's another shot of it three photos down.

The white on white wallpaper, when skimmed with a black stamp pad is just delightful, too.

Of course, it wasn't all black and white this week.  I did a colourful collage from very small bits of paper as well...not sure whether this will be cut up for bookmarks or not.

And I finally finished this painting that was started well before Christmas - Fire Storm Near Arcturus.

All in all it's been a fun week as we celebrated John's 80th birthday, hosted family and generally got into major fun and games!  I hope your week was at least as good!  I look forward to hearing about it in the comments.

  2. You made my heart beat faster when I saw the collage. Black and white just pops off the page, love it. Pleased you got your painting finished too, looks brillant with all that colour. I promise to use up my new collage papers as soon as I can but been a bit distracted this week and not really done much at the desk. Been walking the dogs though today it started snowing and it's gone really cold so I've been trying to come up with an idea for a Valentine's card but finding it difficult to get my head round it, I think those collage papers are shouting out to me Lol! Happy creative week, Angela xXx

    1. Ha! I can see you collaging like mad, and then masking with hearts to make some fabulous cards. You're just so amazingly creative!

Snowing? That's twice this year, yes?! We're getting rain here, and days of grey fog. Crazy weather all around the world!

Happy creating this week, Angela, and I'm already excited to see what you managed for Valentine's cards!

  3. Loving all of it! The monochromatic pieces have drama and great textures. The colourful piece you're wondering about cutting up is a beautiful paper mosaic. And that fire storm just pops and makes me happy.
Your studio is a happy place indeed :)

    1. Many thanks, Tracy...I, too, am loving those b/w textures, and each embellishment I've added since these photos just makes me happier.

I may do another of the colour mosaic...there is just something about POW! colour on black that makes my heart sing...happy, indeed!

  4. Hello, here I am again, between charybdis and scylla, to tell you that I am thinking of you and that I have not forgotten you. I just don't have the time or the energy to communicate on the web, and even less to create. I promise you that, even if I don't know when, I will come back. I sincerely hope that everything goes well for you on your side. Your work is always so splendid, generous and constantly evolving, Bravo ! Kind regards, Sim.

  5. Win my friend, All of your collages are stunning. The first eight would be perfect down here where it seem everyone but me has changed their color scheme to black & white. Houses inside and out, even cars. we now have whole neighborhoods of white & black. I like black & white. but to me it's like no one can think for themselves.
Thank you for being a person who has an original thought. I fact hundreds of wonderful ideas. I love looking at you creations every week. You are the best. I wish you health, happiness and a little warm weather. Hugs, Deann

  6. So many thanks, Deann! Your comments always warm my heart and brighten may day. 💗

I am agog at the black/white thing going on in your neighbourhood...my dream is to change the town of Creston to look as though it were Merida, Mexico, where the colour makes your eyes pop. 🤣
