...of book-making-related projects, as I finished my first star book by adding all of the inserts and enhancing the bases of the pockets. While I've not yet made the slipcase for it, that's likely to happen this week.
I did manage to make a couple of slipcases this week, finishing the piano hinge case
and creating the case for the Japanese Stab Binding book that started this whole craze. It needs some embellishment on the front of the case, yet to be determined, but the form is done.
How'd your week gone? Catch me up in the comments, my artistic friends!!
Works of art!!! I so want to try a slipcover.
ReplyDeleteWe'd better put that on our play date agenda when this is all over, Eileen! 💖
DeleteEverything on here is simply fabulous. You never cease to amaze me with your intricate and wonderful creations. They boggle my mind just looking at them. You are a very special and thoughtful lady and a valued friend. You make the world a better happier place...Rock on. Hugs
ReplyDeleteDeann, you are just so kind - a beam of brightness in this shadowy world. We are both of us creating to lighten the energy, and you always do so when you come to visit! xo
DeleteI so love star books and this is great so full of colour and I'm loving the pockets. What I do like to do is stamp on the inner sections that are at times hidden from sight as it's a great surprise for anyone receiving it when they realise there's something hidden inside the pages, so much fun. Have a great end to the week. Hugs, Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the star form and the pockets, Angela, and I think we must be related given that I do a lot of hidden work as well. It's such a delight when people find the 'goodies'. I have a Norwegian ancestor craftsman who used to place a diamond in every house he built, well hidden, and a delightful surprise to those who found them eventually.
DeleteOh, beautiful! Just love that star book especially the colour combo.
ReplyDeleteI've not tackled a piano hinge binding yet, but it's on my list.
Thanks, Tracy - I want to do another piano hinge one with a dowel next time. They're really an interesting format, and with so many possibilities!
DeleteOh, this star book is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI admire your very good taste and your dexterity.
It's funny how the bright orange almost disappears when you flip through the book.
It is truly sublime, with perfect organization and irreproachable aesthetics.
The cases are also impeccable.
You are a very good craftswoman my friend.
Keep on and enjoy.
Thanks, Sim - it's a favourite form of mine, and one I could repeat again and again. I'm in the process of painting papers right now for #2, a bit worried that the form will draw me in until I hit 102 (age and book numbers)! 🤣
DeleteLooks fabulous and very complicated! Making books is a great way of expressing yourself and they can be used to store all sorts of things. I love making them too. I just don’t do it often enough! Corrie xoxo
ReplyDeleteThe star book is quite complex, and I had the dickens of a time working my way through the directions. The best part of that is that it makes some of the other forms seem comparatively simple! 😉 Thanks for stopping by, Corrie!
DeleteThat is quite a feat that star book. If making the cover isn’t too difficult, I would like to try one.
ReplyDeleteWe can definitely do that, Eileen, and it's only challenging for those of us who are deadly spatially declined. 🤣
