I'm in big trouble now...

...because the sun is shining and I've moved my glue cave outside.  This means, of course, that I've been gluing dryer sheets and pasting them onto other stuff.  I started small just to suss things out, and these two pieces on paper were quick to do.

Then I got to wondering how it would look with darker tone cutouts beneath the dryer sheets and now I have a good background on which to play.

The glue cave got a good workout

and now I've got a couple of large pieces that I can chop and slash to my heart's content.

Of course, I'm still working on the mini books, and with four completed I feel like there is progress being made - only 13 to go!

Given that we've had some slight lifting of the restrictions, I tore over the mountains this week for a quick visit with my daughter and grandson.  We did the Castlegar Sculpture walk together and found these beauties!

Owen insisted on some time out in the park, and he was absolutely right.  It was the perfect day for it.

I hope that your week has been filled with as much creativity, fun and beauty you could pack into it.  Summer vibes are definitely in the air!

  1. Love the drama of those black and colour pieces at the top, Win. They're definitely the sort of thing I'm drawn to! And those larger pieces look very enticing. I look forward to seeing what you make with them.

And how lovely to be able to meet with family, especially the little cutie at the end :)

I'm looking forward to experimenting this week as I'm doing the free Find Your Joy course with Louise Fletcher (over the internet, as we're still not doing stuff in person yet).

    1. Thanks, Tracy - that POW of colour on black is my favourite look...I can hardly wait to do some more, especially now that I've got those larger sheets to play with.

And yes, we're very attached to that little cutie...he's just pure delight, as are the Kelowna babies (looking forward to seeing them next week!).

Oh, I can hardly wait to see what your experimental play will bring you in your course. That sounds like a ton of fun!

    1. Thanks, Ang - and it really was a stunning day. With great company, wonderful sculptures, and lunch out (the first in a year) along with time in the park, it couldn't have been better. Happy artistic week, my friend!

  4. Starting at the top, I like your first picture because it has more depth and movement with that grey square, beautiful and wall worthy all.

What kind of glue do you use? That glue cave is quite a set up.

    The eyes have it.

I am thrilled that you are able to get out and about. Isn't it a strange feeling coming out of your pod after so long, (with no mask) it is for me. The sculptures are lovely I wish we had something like that around here. We are a very artsy city I wonder why we don't have a sculpture walk. They are very cool.

Last but not least, what a handsome little chunk I love those big eyes and that little turned up nose, he is such a cutie. I bet he bring you so much joy.
I been working on major Spring cleaning this week. You know the kind where you move everything and clean under and around and on top of it all. Washed our big sectional (a lot of fun), cleaned reorganized my office and decided I have way too much stuff. Next year I am cleaning with a garbage can...lol
Wishing you more adventures and time with Owen, Hugs Deann

    1. I agree about the first piece, Deann, and am grinning about the grey square. It's actually the studio floor, but I, too, love the look of that piece framed with it. It's actually on paper, so I could apply it to a wood panel, grey painted to get the same effect.

I love the Sculpturewalk and make a point of attending yearly. Many of the sculptures remain in perpetuity, and Castlegar is now known as the Sculpture Capital of Canada. For such a smallish city, that's quite a big deal! And yes, it was great to get out (although masks indoors are still required, and we used them when attending the busy Saturday market as well, since some forget the social distancing requirements). It's a breath of fresh air, literally, to be out and about with a lessening of fear, albeit it carrying large chunks of Covid residue. John and I are now booked for our second shots on the 21st...yay!!

We're so fortunate to have had the chance to visit with Owen, and very much look forward to next weekend when we can do the same with our other two lovelies (and all parents as well).

Oh my goodness - that spring cleaning sounds like a job and a half! Wishing you luck (and a large can for next year) as you finish it. How you find time for that and your fabulous creative time as well is beyond me. I mostly avoid the cleaning end of things. :D

Sending massive hugs and wishes for your safety...Win

    2. Deann, I forgot to mention that the glue is Super 77 glue by 3M...it seems to be the one glue that works with the residue of chemicals left in the dryer sheets (even after washing them twice and mopping up paint). So far, so good!

  5. How wonderful that you're able to work outside! I can't imagine anything better than that. I used to do that in our old house, where I had all the craft supplies downstairs - now it seems too much hassle bringing everything down but I used to love painting outside sitting under a parasol. I must try it again. Amazing sculptures and what a cutie - I can't believe how big he is already! xx Have fun Win! xx

    1. I do enjoy being outside, especially when the weather is cooperative...the hot summer sun really is my thing. ;-) And yes, Owen is growing amazingly quickly...he'll be off to school before I can get my head wrapped around the thought!
