This has been...

...a bonkers week as I've wrestled with the Telus email migration, loss of all my contact information/  calendar and third party connections, plus dealing with my own technically-challenged mind.  Which means, of course, that I am late with this post, so I'll get right at it.

I've been working on one of the colour palette signatures, in a range of hues most unlike me.  In fact, this signature turned out to be about a dear friend, Alice Saltiel, who passed away from cancer.  The palette is much more her style and she was directing traffic all the way.

In fact, the photo on the front of the signature is one that she took of an artist's work in New York City some years ago; she was sure I'd love it, and I did!

The signature is filled with cards, photos and bits of ephemera from her over the years.

And of course, I've been working on the mini books as well, adding another layer to most of them (with more to finish, and more layers to come).

Picture heavy and verbiage short!  Hope you're having a great week, filled with creative juices to the max...  And if I've had your email/snail mail address/phone number in the past, I'd be so happy if you'd forward it again!  Many thanks.

  1. Oh, technical difficulties are such a pain! And seem to take up so much energy that could be better put to artistic endeavours.
Love that book that is a memento of your friend. It's funny how the art speaks to us, isn't it?
And more luscious colour in those mini books - a feast for the eyes.

    1. They do send me up the wall, Tracy - the last thing I am is a teckie (technophobe is more like it :D ), and every year it seems that aspect of my life gets more challenging.

I, too, love how artwork speaks to us - it was a surprise to me to find myself pulling out dozens of pieces of paper, cards and postcards to play with - all Alice's. It was a no-brainer to follow that theme.

  2. The colour palette of Alice Saltiel was wonderful, I love these broken suave dark pinks mixed with seashell colors.
(If you don't mind, you'll have to explain to me what a 'signature' is ( I didn't find it:), I wonder if there is a relation to our french word?)
I love your little books more and more! They are excellent!
Thank you for your many sweet comments my friend <3
Happy creating and take care of you Win!
    Hugs

    1. It's a lovely palette combination, isn't it Sim? As for a signature, here's a good definition found on compassandink.com:

'In bookbinding or journal crafting, a signature is a set of pages nested inside one another the creates one small section of the book. Each signature is usually 4 to 7 pages in total, and is individually stitched into the book. Each journal is made up of many signatures stitched into the book together.' I'm not sure how that relates to the French word, though!

Thanks again for stopping by, Sim - so lovely to see you here! xo

    2. Thanks for the explanation sweet heart!
In French, a book is made up of several 'notebooks' of an even number of pages which will be assembled (six, eight, twelve, sixteen, eighteen, twenty-four or thirty-two pages).

    3. Well that makes sense, now, and I love the thought of notebooks. It makes more sense to me than signatures. You French are just so right on. :D

  4. You're a riot, Corrie - that EXACTLY my sentiments. :D I will recover, in time, but it's enough to engender any number of temper tantrums as I work my way through it all. Thanks for stopping by, and the lovely comment, my friend.

  5. Drooling over those patterns and colours - to use one of your expressions - or that be swooning LOL? How lovely that you're honouring your friend's memory with things she sent you and using her colour scheme. That artwork she took a photo of on the cover is indeed stunning and all the rest of it! Happy April, Win! Spring is on the way, although it may not feel like it yet! xx

    1. Zsuzsa, it always amazes me how journals pages and signatures come together...it's rather like magic, isn't it? And Alice's signature was exactly like that.

And spring - yes, happy spring, as we move towards a warmer, softer place. xo

  6. Glad you managed to sort the technical stuff, we can do without any of that. You have some beautiful artwork here today and I'm loving your gorgeous mini books. I'm not sure what I was doing yesterday but when I looked at my emails today I can only think I must have forgotten to check them yesterday as they have really built up, now could it be the shadow box I've just finished? Will be posting that on Monday for your delight. Have a lovely weekend, Angela xXx

    1. I'm having a LOT of fun with the mini books, and am really enjoying working on them all together (a departure from the 'norm' for me). I'm looking forward to seeing your shadow box post - yay!!!
