Well that went quickly -

 - this week, I mean.  We were away celebrating a grandson's fourth birthday  which was a real treat.  You can tell from the photo that he enjoyed it, too!

I did manage to get some work done in the mini collage journal ( know you'll recognize this first one from last week, with what I expect to be the final tweeks).

I also manage to make a colossal mess of one of my tables when I cut, and cut, and cut more circles.

I did manage to get a start on the floral collage in that travel signature from last week, though, and the table did finally get sorted (into another mess, of course!).

And somewhere along the way I played with some new Sharpie pens and finished another grandson's birthday painting.

I did not, however, do any major testing on that wacko toilet roll holder thingy from last week, so that's an excitement-yet-to-come for you all.  🤣  May your week have been filled with a host of fun creativity; I look forward to stopping by to see your results!!

How is cake connected to cinnamon, spinning and Lego?

In my world this past week, there's a clear correlation.  Granddaughter Chloe celebrated her second birthday on Saturday in the Okanagan, so there was cake galore.

Our visit to the new locale seemed to have elicited a visit from a cinnamon bear.  From the looks of him/her (we didn't get close enough to check), some post-hibernation sprucing up should have been in the cards.  A curry-comb and hairdresser were definitely required.

As for spinning, grandson Linkin and his dad had a blast at his sister Chloe's party, as did all the other children shouting and screaming at a decibel level to rival lift-off at Cape Canaveral.

We stopped for a quick visit on the way home with another grandson, Owen, as he and his family were unable to attend Chloe's party.  And actually, we visited with his parents as well.  🤣

His current fascination with Lego is boundless, as he arranged them by colour, then by number of bumps, and then by who knows what?!

As we were away for four days (and recovering for two afterwards 😉), there was little activity in the studio, apart from some card backgrounds created,

and a start on a couple of mini books because I found two neat little boxes in my stash and retro-fitting seemed like a great idea.

I'm looking forward to getting these finished this week, as well as starting on a larger book form.  And who knows what will really happen to those best-laid plans?

I've been away...

...for a wee bit, welcoming our second grandson to the world.  Owen Mitchell Purdy joined the family on September 30, 2020, weighing in at 7 lb., 10 oz., first-born to Rochelle Christensen and Jeremy Purdy.  He joins his two cousins Linkin and Chloe (who was just born in June, 2020).  We're pleased as punch and smitten to the max.

Given that I'm going to be out of town for a while (I love spending time with newborns, don't you?), I thought I'd share a birthday painting.  Link's third birthday isn't until early November, but his painting has been delivered already, and I know his parents well enough that it's unlikely to be still in the bag.  😉

You might recognize those fishy scales as part of this wild and wacky paper towel background I created a few weeks ago.

Here are some closeups of the piece...I'm just loving those juicy little bits of colour.

And to answer your yet-as-unasked question, I DO have a piece on the easel in honour of Owen's birth.  That's going to be Rochelle and Jeremy's shower gift in early November...I love it that they are able to have a shower after his birth!  It will be an interesting experience to attend a Covid-safe shower - how ever will I keep from hugging all those happy people?!!!
