Did you have . . .

 . . . a spooky week in your neighbourhood?  I'm fond of Halloween just for the sugar high of the kidlets and their gleeful joy in their costumes.    And, of course, it's always an opportunity to dress up for the fun of it, too.  This year, I put together a costume for a Garden Fairy from studio odds and sods, and John filched a mask and upgraded it to a Grandaddy Warlock costume.

I have a priceless photo of Grandson Owen, who is undoubtedly the most joyous Spiderman ever!  

Unfortunately, the other grandchildren are photoless due to a surgery on Oct. 31.  How untimely is that?!  Luckily, his sibling at least got to trick or treat throughout the hospital so she managed a little sweeting.  

The weather cooperated very well, with temperatures reaching 6 degrees that day.

Of course, play in the studio kept pace with the energy outdoors.  I made progress on both the Christmas cards and ornaments for the grandkids.

I managed a small amount of work on the 3x4,

and started some over-painting a 16 x 20.  

The piece was crying out for more texture,

and between a string bag, glass beads, 

and crackle, I think there's a good start already. 

How about you - were you dressing up, sneaking childrens' candy, and/or playing in the studio?  Hope it was fun, regardless!

...yellow!  We'll all be glad the 3 x 4 is not staying like this for long.  🤣

I promise it will get toned down once the rest of this layer is added.  It really creates a contrast, though, doesn't it?

I've been slowly working on addition all across the board,

and eventually I'll get to the point where I can continue with a full layer of all-over colour.

I've got some Typar place markers to indicate some of the large areas that will be dealt with, so progress is being made, if only in my mind.

It was fun this week to enjoy a morning with Eileen and Laura as we played together in the studio.  Funny how we were all working on organics.

I got a good couple of hours in on Christmas cards - I'm sure it's hard to tell what this year's theme is from the photo.  😉

And the grandchildrens' ornaments will take shape this week, now that they are gessoed for play.

 All in all, it's been a fun studio week - how about yours?

My memory is great...

 ...when it's turned on, although that's a hit and miss thing these days.  🤣  I realized that one of the Christmas traditions hadn't even been on my mental radar, so making tree ornaments for the grandkids was was pretty much a necessity given I was in the midst of wrapping their presents.

The ones I made for them have disappeared somewhere in the pile, but as you can see from the photo above, I just couldn't stop making these little (1 1/2" square) ornaments.  The origami envelopes were  so fun to make from 6" x 1 1/2" strips of paper scraps and I probably have a thousand more of those.  They could be as lucky as origami cranes, right?

I finished them with a wide variety of stickers,

and a range of embroidery thread ends.

Some are meant for children,

and just as many for the grown-ups.

I wonder now if my addictive nature will let me stop this nonsense, and get on to the Christmas baking.  After all, there are only seventeen days left until Christmas, and soooooooo many treats to sort.
