I'm darned if I can figure it out, but here we are, half a day late and running like a greyhound. I did manage to finish a cheesecloth bowl (about 11" x 13" in width and 3 1/2" deep, with an 8" diameter). I'm experimenting with larger sizes to see what happens, and I found out that they definitely require more than one layer to manage stability. Rather like people, I think.
It certainly can make the bottom layer just as interesting as the top, I think.
I made some progress on the first lesson in Tracy Verdugo's Playful Painter, although I'm thinking it looks more like a dog's breakfast than a start to a vases painting. We'll see, and I remain hopeful.
There are parts of it that I find interesting,
although I do need to learn how to control the spray on the water bottle.
It feels like the whole area contains tiny worlds or galaxies, and goodness knows that's always been a pull for me.
Regardless of what happens with this, it's been fun to experiment and play.
I made some progress on Owen's Pikachi painting, so there's hope for that as well.
And I finished that tag that was in progress last week. It received a slice of the blue-green Clear Tar Gel bit when it dried.
Thanks to those of you who encouraged me to get off the Procrastination Pony. May your week have been as free of it as has mine. ☺️
Looks like a creative time was had. I love the cheese cloth bowl. This year the Visions art quilt show theme is PLAY. It looks like I can learn a lot from your play. Keep it up. I am so grateful that you are in my life Win. Regards, Isabella Nelson
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely thing to say, Isabella. I'll be watching for the Visions art quilt show on FB to see what comes out of the play theme. It's always one of my favourite things to do (and see!).
DeleteHi Win, looks like you've been having fun. Gorgeous colours. I've been looking at Jane Monteith's work this week, she's doing some free 'Layer by Layer' Demo workshops starting Monday 8th september and I love what she does. Lots of abstract stuff. Also been doing some more felting which has occupied my time a bit. Craft on my friend. Hugs Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteIt's been a fun week. I'll check out Jane Monteith to see what she's up to - thanks for the tip.
DeleteGreat to hear you're felting...some fun in store to be had there. I wait with anticipation!
Win, Your cheese cloth bowls are awesome, I just have to keep looking at them. I can't wait for what's next. And your "Dogs Breakfast" Is a really cool solar system of interesting planets and galaxies, waiting to be turned into mini masterpieces. Who is Owen, and what the heck is a Pikachi painting??? And last but not least, I adore your cute book mark. and the Clear Tar Gel is very cool.
ReplyDeleteMy friend I have no doubt that on your most "Procrastinatingous Day" you could run rings around all of us.
Love you a bunch, Best wishes and hugs coming your way. Deann
Thanks, Deann...and those vases/bowls are such fun to create.
DeleteAs for Owen, that's grandson #2, whose birthday is coming fast...the Pikachu (Pokemon character) is his painting this year and it's great fun to create. The character is electric, and somedays, so am I 🤣
That's a fabulous word - procrastinatingous is elegant to the max. 😉 I'm saving it as an addition to my vocab as soon as I can pronounce it. SO much fun!!
I don't know where this week went, either, Win. Washed away in a flood of rain, I suspect.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing your bowl experiments - such great shapes. The larger size is intriguing, especially where the layers overlap and give even more depth and texture. And I look forward to seeing the vase painting when it is done. Those little cameos are so interesting and vibrant!
You've had major rain, and we've had another heat wave. The elements have having fun with us, I'd say!
DeleteI do like the layers with the cheesecloth, and look forward to more play there with the green and blues.
Goodness knows what will come of the vase painting...it's all such fun to play, though!
