Is it just me...

...or is the summer flying by at the speed of light?  We nearing the middle of August and nothing seems to slow it down. It seems I have to play faster, so that's what I've been doing.

Normally, I'd wait until I had a ton of paint left from a session before starting more painted cheesecloth, but I just decided to pour it all out because I wanted to.

Given the results make me so happy, I'm glad I did.

And just for fun, I might do it again this week on the cool side of the palette.

Of course, that's just because I managed to get another cheesecloth vase made using the last of my painted cheesecloth, so had to make more.

The vase is about 6 1/2" in height by about 9 1/2 inches wide at the top.  Given the 2" diameter base, I'm delighted that it stands straight and tall.

I'm really hoping that I can get another one done this week, so do please send me cheesecloth-painting energy to the max!!

While I 'painted' the cheesecloth with Golden High Flow Acrylics, I've also been experimenting with acrylic inks before tackling one of Tracy Verdugo's Playful Painter exercises.  My ink selection is rather sparse, so I'm looking for a palette that will make my eyes and heart happy.  I think the top centre(ish) will work just fine.

I've also got my eye on a birdhouse outside our condo, and it looks to me as though it would make a good collage when I get all my ducks  birds in a row.  At the rate the summer's moving, though, that's likely to be mid-winter!

I hope your summer is moving a little more slowly for you, and that your creativity is blooming along with it.  Happy week to you all.  🔆😎🔆

  1. Bravo my friend, it's good to see you got your enthusiasm back. And yes time is whizzing by like the white lines on the freeway. When I went to bed last night it was May. When I woke up this morning August was half over.
I love your cheese cloth vase, and your top centerish ink print. (My favorite too)
    I adore your old birdhouse.
But I am befuddled at how you are going to make a collage out of it???
If it involves bring it down off it's perch. BE CAREFUL🤦‍♀️💖
Carry on with the creativity and good times. Have a wonderful week.
Best wishes & big hugs from here dear Win. Deann

    1. Many thanks, Deann - it's good to have the Mojo coursing through the veins again (rather like your white lines on the freeway analogy!).

I'm having a grin at the thought of taking the birdhouse down to collage it...not a chance as I like it hanging outside our patio. I can, however, use the image as a starting point to create a collaged painting when I get the chance, and I suspect I will.

Happy creating my dear friend - see you next week (and it will still be summer, I promise!). xoxox

  2. I love the way you use the cheese cloth and the results are stunning, I'm not surprised you want to make more it's a great technique. I'm afraid that the time is going too fast here also, can't believe how far on the year is, it will soon be Christmas! I love the bird house, it's a great shape. Have a good weekend. Hugs Angela xXx

    1. Thanks, Angela - I am certainly enjoying the cheesecloth play, and I'm hanging on the reins of my acquisitive nature so that I don't buy a gallon of the GAC400 which is required to make them by the dozen. Like your clouds, they are calling, calling, calling!

I agree about that birdhouse shape - it somehow reminds me of a beach hut, and I think of happy little birdies in bikinis enjoying the ambiance of the lake. ;-)

  3. Sending you all the vibes, Win! I'm sure by next week you'll have a whole pile of coloured cheesecloth ready to go to make more of those yummy vases:) And I'm with you on the palette for the Playful Painter exercise - that's the one that draws the eye. Enjoy the sunshine ☀️

    1. Thanks for the great vibes, Tracy - I did manage to get some cheesecloth coloured yesterday, and if I can't rein myself in, there will be more next week! Our weather has turned - from 33 degrees yesterday to 22 as a high today, and grey, with smoke. What the heck happened there??!! Regardless, it's time for happy creating, my friend, so let's get at it!!
