What a smashing good time...

...we had during the Christmas season (although nothing got smashed at all apart from a molar of mine, and the fix has started on that).  We stuffed ourselves silly, visited with the family that was able to be here, and I spent a great deal of time in the studio playing as well.

I've been in both small journals, and will show you the 'black and white' results this week.  The journal is getting so full it's near impossible to get a photo of the pages, so you'll find them very wonky.  What else is new with me, right?!

I noticed that I am only seven or eight pages away from completing this journal apart from the cover artwork.  It's been such a pleasure to do that I may start another one if I'm remain undaunted by 80 more pages and the two or three years it's taken.

I do hope that your new year has started on the journey of 'Best Ever', and that you are already staring massive joy in the face.

  1. Happy New Year!
As usual you managed to sneak the rainbow into your 'black and white' journal, Win :) I'm sure you feel great satisfaction at seeing the end in sight, and I won't be at all surprised to see a new journal very soon...

I winced in sympathy with your smashed molar. I hope it's fixed soon and not causing you too much trouble.

    1. Happy New Year to you as well, Tracy! Yes, the rainbow is ubiquitous in my work - just can't escape from the colour, black and white notwithstanding.

The molar is now temporarily repaired with a crown to come in three months or so when I could get an appointment for part one of the work. And there was no pain involved at all, apart from the jaggedness of the broken parts. It made it quite difficult to overeat on the holidays - I had to work extra hard to get the additional 10,000 calories per day in. 🤣

  2. Well done Win! at almost completing the journal and Happy New Year. Loving those colourful pages. Your art work always looks so free and easy and lively too. I need to learn from you as I think too much instead of getting on with it. Sorry to hear about the tooth but they seem to know the worst time to break. My hubby waited months to get one sorted so I hope you have more luck. Take care my friend and lets hope this year is a better one. Hugs, Angela xXx

    1. Thanks, Angela - it's always a good feeling to be nearing the end of a journal (because it so rarely happens I suspect 😃). Funny that you feel you need to learn from my work, given that I spend so much time admiring your prodigious range of creativity! I suspect we learn as much from each other as we possibly can!

My temporary tooth repair was done yesterday with the start of the crown at the end of March. The dental staff are really struggling to cope with all the extra protocols that are required during this pandemic, poor people! I count myself lucky that there's been no pain with this one - hurray!

Here's to a fantabulous 2022 for all of us!

My very best wishes for you my friend for a Happy, Healthy, Artsy New Year.

    1. I feel the same way about everything you post, Deann...they just keep getting better, and each one is my new fave!

And yes, it was lovely to have some family time over the holidays, even if we weren't all able to get together. We made do with FaceTime, messages and phone calls to the max.

Wishing you and yours all the best for 2022; may the joy be boundless!

  4. P.S. I forgot to tell you that I looked up your link on Google for "Respair" several times and it wouldn't go through. However I read the definition and I think it is the perfect word for our times. "the return of hope after a period of despair". They said the poor thing has been dead since 1425...probably right after a plague. Hugs

  5. What wonderful journal play, Win - you're definitely on a roll, especially if want to start another one straight after this! I must say I would find 80 pages a little bit daunting, but I guess if you have years to work on it, it doesn't really matter if you do 4 x 20-page journals or a monster 80-page one LOL! Hope the tooth is now fixed. I hate having dental trouble! One of my phobias! Happy January! xx

    1. Well, I may not start another right away. After all, I have three other journals on the go, book boxes to create, umpteen paintings to finish, and you know the list goes on and on. I do enjoy the black pages to play on, though!
