Last week it was black and white...

and this week it's the heart journal.  Goodness knows what next week will bring, and isn't that the best part of playing in the studio?

The heart journal is coming along, although there is no guarantee that these pages will remain in this state.  If it's one thing I know about working in journals is that the pages morph from week to week, depending on the ingredients left over in the studio.

Here's hoping that your creative week has been filled with playfulness, joy and much glorious colour!

  1. Oh wouaouh! You have a perfect sense of composition! All these hearts make me dream. And all these colors too ... I enjoy the second photo particularly. A thousand bravo for YOU and the LOVE that all these representations illustrate wonderfully. Have a great time in your studio, everything that comes out of it is a wonder.

  2. A lovely splash of colour as usual, Win. And isn't one of the best things about journals that we can constantly add to them? As your study of the heart proceeds and you find new quotes, they can be added in and the journal becomes constantly richer.
    Have a lovely week.

    1. Thanks, Tracy...this journal will be bouncing along until I'm 120 I think, and there will still be more to add...could life (and heart) be any better?!!

  3. Many thanks, Sim, and especially for your comment about composition. Design is something that I truly have struggled with for years, and it's good to hear that there is some progress there! As always, thanks for stopping by and for your encouragement...you are a gem!

  4. I am so loving these hearts and the sentiments fit perfectly. I am starting to realise that Art journals can use up all that left over stuff and guess what??? I have loads! so no excuse there then! Sounds like your weather is a lot different from ours as we've had some lovely sunny days though cold too. This looks like another season with out skiing although the French have now decided to let us back in again. I'll just have to continue with the crafty stuff instead. Take care and keep warm. Much love, Angela xXx

    1. Journals are the best place to use up those bits of paper, Ang - and they get thicker and thicker as one works in them. I love the look of collaged paper in journals, and you create the most beautiful papers I can just imagine what a completed journal would look like!

I'm sorry you're unlikely to get skiing this year, but the upside is more time in the studio, and I know your exploding box will love you for it! 🤣 Happy creating, my friend! xo

    3. I'm afraid it's going to do some damage when it explodes - maybe a bigger box??!! 🤣

  5. You really know how to hit me where I live, first black pages and now "Hearts". Wonderful work as always hearts are one of my favorite icons. Eternal like a circle with extra symbolism...everyone know you can never have too much love. Big hugs and hearts to you my friend.

    1. I'm with you on both, Deann, and I'm having a giggle at my attempt to reduce the number of hearts in may stash. Somehow (and how could that possibly happen?) they seem to be reproducing, and now I have many more than when I started the heart journal. Like love, they just expand with use! Sending hearts and hugs right back to you, my dear friend.

  6. So crative as usual. Love the rich colours. Do you make the journals well, or use a blank you have bought and print onto it? So cool. Will you be doing a workshop soon?

    1. Thanks, Allie - this particular journal is crafted from unloved gel prints (and goodness knows I've a number of those 😃). My goal is to turn those less-than-beautiful pages into a book that makes the heart sing, hence the hearts and heart quotes that adorn the pages.

Not sure about doing workshops any time soon...the wave after wave of Covid make that problematical right now. I've got my fingers crossed this will pass soon so I can get back to the playful fun of teaching! Here's hoping and wishing....

    1. I so agree, Corrie - they keep popping up everywhere in my work. Cards, journals, paintings, books...universal, colourful and beloved.
