It's all madness in the studio.

I've gone waaaaaaay overboard on multi-tasking, with colour everywhere.  The painted-Typar-in progress is gaining ground,

there is a new book in the works that tested my spatially-challenged brain so much that I had to make a mini mockup,

and there are Christmas card toppers in progress.

Truth be told, I chose this wonky tree design for my cards this year for two reasons.   2021 has been the wonky year personified, don't you think?   Also, I have such a huge pile of paper snippets, and SOMETHING MUST BE DONE about them.  The exploding can of papers is way out of control.

My loosely-calculated estimate means that I'd have to create some 3,587,366,218 Christmas cards to bring it down to manageable size.  Cut/paste/darken edges/glue/add sprarkle and text,  and repeat until my hands are withered, my eyes are rolling around in my head and my brain has turned to mush.  Is it any wonder I'm starting in September?

We celebrated our youngest grandchild's birthday this past Saturday, and I thought I'd share one of his prezzies with you.

I do hope your week has been creative as well - stay safe and play thoroughly in  and out of the studio until next week!

  1. Oh, you used the 'C' word! I can't even think about that just yet. But yes, I can see that you would have to start early to get a start on that pile of papers :)

On this side of the pond I am gaily getting rid of stuff that's hung around for years, passing it on to someone who may actually use it. I find it cathartic, actually, but then I've never been someone who holds on to every little scrap.

    1. I am amused that I am so pared-down in every part of my life...right up until I get into the studio. Then everything gets saved. Heaven help me! :D

I'm glad you don't have that problem so much when it comes to this second across-the-world move...it should make things much easier! Happy packing, my friend...xo

  3. If I don't start early with Christmas cards I find myself having a mad rush to get them posted. Sometimes I wish I hadn't started making them as people feel cheated if they don't get one now so of course I have to make them but it also makes me happy to be able to share a small part of my art work with others. I bet that Mini book is going to be a great piece and the toppers too. It makes me happy to see I'm not the only one that needs to use up loads of stuff! Love the panel too, very sweet. Have a good creative week. Hugs, Angela xXx

    1. Those cards really become quite the thing, don't they, Angela? If I recall, I sent out nearly fifty of them last year (although not even close to the 150+ my mother used to send every years, not hand-crafted thank goodness for her). It does keep me in the studio, though, and like you, I'm on a mission. :D

  4. Love the idea of the wonky Christmas trees - so funky - and what a wonderful keepsake for the grandie! Have a wonderful weekend, Win - although we'll have to get through Friday first - and I already had a Friday feeling back on Tuesday LOL!

    1. They're fun to make, Zsuzsa! And I've been doing a painting for each of the grandchildren at birth, and an additional one on their birthday as well. It's a fun way to see progress on their part as their ages and passions change!

  5. Win you are one amazing woman, I just can't even imagine having as much going on in my work room as you do, and all of it cute and clever. Love your Christmas trees cause I'm pretty wonky too, your "Dream Big" card adorable and I'm sure your book will be fabulous when it comes together. Carry on with your mass creativity just remember to enjoy yourself while you are doing it.
As for me and my husband we hit the wall after we got or CoVid booster shots...never mind CoVid the dang shot about did me in for two days. I'm doing better and back at the desk. Take care of you...and have fun.
    Hugs, Deann

    1. I'm pretty sure that you have as much going on in your head and on your computer as this studio holds, and much more to boot. Your creativity astounds ME!

I'm sorry to hear that your booster shots gave you so much grief...makes me a little happier that they are not available in Canada (yet). To be down for two days with the symptoms is a huge thing. Thank goodness that you're feeling better; I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end. May you and your family stay well, healthy and happy...xoxox
