Where did it go?

The week, I mean.  I've no idea what happened this week, apart from the laze-in-the-studio days flying by.  I did get started on  the inside of the stitched book, although progress is slower than expected.  (Me, not the work itself.)

I got a ton of bookmark and tag blanks out, fully intending to do something with them in order to reduce the size of the exploding box of papers.  For some reason, they refused to make themselves, and my Round-Tuit had already expired for the month.

My two journals in the works languished in the same manner, and goodness knows when they'll get done.

And Ruth's last two paintings await her presence, which may take a good while, given that the Covid stats have risen alarmingly in town.  We're back to full restrictions for the foreseeable future in British Columbia, and there are rumblings (unfounded I sincerely hope) about a lockdown.

In spite of that, there is a feeling of neighbourliness everywhere

and we are taking every advantage of the now-stellar outdoor weather.  The smoke from forest fires around us has lifted due to the rain, the skies are blue, and sunshine sparkles and brightens each day.  The flora has taken on some fall colours, and we glory in them.

Hopefully your home area is safe and beautiful as well.  Happy week, my friends!

  1. Oh, those jobs that just won't do themselves! In my house that would be the cleaning :)
But at least you had time to enjoy those glorious colours.
So sorry to hear of looming lockdown. I have to say that I'm braced for an uptick in cases now that schools will be going back and people coming back from hols...

    1. I'm with you on the house-cleaning, Tracy...somehow it seems rather pointless when there's nobody to visit! ;-) I'm hoping that you and yours can stay safe as the children head back to school (and the same holds true here)...we're beginning to wonder if we can look forward to holidays next year.

    1. Yes it should, Rochelle. 🤣 And for those of you who don't know, I've been storing all the baking since the pandemic started in freezer bags marked 'Nothing'. What are you eating? Nothing. What did you just get out of the freezer? Nothing What are you hiding behind your back? Nothing. And storing is really a silly idea, given that we eat them faster than a week's date can expire. .

  4. Hi Win, those exploding boxes just seem to grow even though we keep trying to use the stuff up and I think someone keeps popping in and filling them up. Here in Lincolnshire the Covid numbers had gone up but have now dropped again but the children will be back at school soon and I suspect things will change very quickly. Some body had suggested that the children should be taught outside! can you imagine that what will happen in the winter or when it rains let alone when it's windy and all their books fly away. I'm in the middle of building a Gothic cabinet at the moment so spending quite a lot of time in the cabin. You would think that when you've made all those gorgeous papers that they would jump to it and make themselves into something! Have a great week, hugs Angela xxx

    1. I just can't figure out how that happens...I make, and use, and create, and still they grow. :D

I can't imagine how teaching the kidlets outside would work - maybe for one class or two, but not for weeks on end!

Have fun with that cabinet - I'm really looking forward to seeing the finish line on it. ;-)

  6. Hi Win, Don't feel bad if you didn't get much accomplished this week, we all need a pause in the disaster. Your flowers are wonderful. It has been a strange for me as well. Some weeks things work out so well and others I can't put together squat. This week I really liked two of my pictures, that's amazing. On the other hand I am so sad about the tragedy going on in Afghanistan, I just want to cry. CoVid is running amuck again and our crazy School Board refused to mandate masks, so my asthma ridden grandkids are going to school without. The first day of school the bus driver ask the kids to wear masks on the bus and a "sweet" lady that goes to my church started yelling at him. "You can't take away my child's freedom!"
I'm glad your here Win because I think most of the rest of the world has gone crazy. Please take care of you, and have a great week whether or not you get anything done. Hugs

    1. There has definitely been a pause here as we reel with all the things our planet is experiencing right now. I'm weeping with you - for Afghanistan, for the pandemic losses, for children who are unprotected as they start school this fall, for those who are not compassionate enough to care for them. The list goes on and on.

Like you, I take pleasure in my friends who are living with empathy, love and compassion, and you are at the top of my list. I hope your husband is recovering from his second surgery, you are managing with all that is difficult around you, and that your grandchildren remain safe amidst the craziness. Sending love, light and hope from my little corner of Canada. xo

  7. Hi Win. Love your flowers. They are gorgeous. Have fun in your studio. I have been kmitting baby blankets for a charity - HPIC - 5 so far. Very relaxing. So upset, disturbed and sad re Afhanistan and the people left behind. It is Vietnam all over again.

    1. Thanks, Allie - it's quite difficult to take a bad photo of the flowers in this area, I must admit. It's the perfect climate for show-and-tell flora!

Glad to hear that you're enjoying your knitting (I do have learning more about that on my list, but it's pretty far down!). I especially love that you're knitting the baby blankets for a charity. It's wonderful how so many seniors continue to pitch in and create for such a good cause.

Yes, I totally agree about the Afghanistan situation - it's truly heartbreaking.

  8. Sorry I missed this last week, Win! I didn't know you had forest fires - it must have been worrying - glad they're over now. That journal cover looks yummy and I chuckled at the "who ate my cookies" page - is that based on a real life experience LOL? Loving the flowers - I had those African daisies this year as well, but they're not flowering at the moment. I wonder if they'll come back in the Autumn? Have a lovely week and do take care! xx

    1. It was been a wild summer (actually we've replaced 'summer' with 'fire season' here in BC, as the last 7 of 8 summers have been the latter).

I have to admit I'm a cookie hound to the max - I bake them ad nauseum and eat them even more. It's a wonder I'm not 820 pounds!

Right back at you for a good week - keeping fingers crossed for you all over there that the back-to-school does not equate with back-to-lockdown. xo
