I never know...

what's going to happen in the creativity zone in any given day.

It might be more work on a piece of fabric that has morphed from a pandemic mask to something else entirely (a background for a painting, a mini wall hanging?).

A gel printing session might seize me by the throat and cause me to lose hours in the day.

I could pick up a journal (one of several on the go), and play with my inner self.

I may create a card for someone who has had a difficult diagnosis,

or one to welcome a new family member.

No matter what's going on, John is willing participant (read Impeccability Manager) in my craziness.

If there's anything challenging/persnickety/fastidious/picky/fussy that needs doing, he's definitely the man.  When he can spare time from his heritage tomato growing and volunteer work, he can often be found in the studio taking care of the detail stuff, bless his soul.

How about you?  Who aids and abets you in your creative life?  I'd love to hear in the comments below!

  1. Its so wonderful that John is there to help. I would just like my husband to support what I'm doing and not think of it as a money pit.

    1. It truly is a blessing, Karenliz, although not so surprising. He has been, in previous decades, a fabulous photographer as well as watercolourist and pen/ink artist, so he definitely knows the value of the creative life, even though his creativity takes the form of growing heritage tomatoes now. I'm petitioning the Universe today to change your husband's mind to support, support, support, my friend. xo

  2. Love the fact that John helps ! My hubby supports me in anything I do and seldom walks past my craftroom without coming in to see what I am doing. We are lucky, Win ! Have a wonderful crafty weekend !

  3. I understand so well the feeling you can have when your loved one is concerned and involved in your creative life... I'm as lucky as you are!
We have no room enough, so, it's the computer wich is my entire studio... :D

    1. And your computer skills are wonderfully awesome, Sim, so I'm delighted that your partner is supportive of that!

  4. You and I Win, are lucky ladies. You have your John who is happy to put himself out to help you and I have my lovely hubby Des who built the cabin for me almost on his own with very little help though I think he thought it might be a way of getting all that stuff out of the house! Not sure that will happen Lol! My hubby taught art to school children for about 30 years so he appreciates the value of it thank goodness! Take care my friend and have a happy creative week, Angela xXx

    1. Lucky indeed, Angela. That studio that Des built for you is amazing (ulterior motives notwithstanding). He obviously has the eye, the skills and the tools. xo

  5. Your art is always wonderful Win but that resurrected face mask at the top is amazing, I'm so glad you didn't chop it up. And let me just say your husband is a heck of a guy...a big BRAVO for him. My husband is a heck of a guy too and takes care of me big time, but he won't come anywhere near art, doesn't want to see, do it or talk about it. My middle son however to my shock took up drawing a few months ago, because I told him it was a great way to pass the time. He just sent me some of his work that blew me away. He has always been my biggest fan and that "Desperado" picture on my blog today was created at his request.
Now that I have told you way more then you ever wanted to know. I am very happy that you have a great husband like John it serves you right.
    Take care of you both.
    Hugs and best wishes, Deann

    1. Thanks, Deann - I'll be working more on that fabric and am curious as to where it may go. I promise I'll post a fabric-only photo when it's done before I go anywhere else with it! :D

How wonderful that your husband is so supportive, even if he doesn't 'get' art much. And isn't it fabulous that your middle son is developing his drawing skills? Obviously you've been a great influence on him. (And Desperado is fabulous, so that was a good call to go where his muse was leading you.)

Sending you and all your family massive hugs - may we meet in person some day to share all that we are! xo

  6. Hi Win. My husband knows nothing about art but he supports me a lot. He always comes to see what I am doing and he always says he loves my creations when they are ready. And despite I give all my creations to charity and friends (I never sell) he has never told me that I spend money (and, believe me, I spend a lot of money for crafting materials). Hugs, my friend.

    1. How wonderful for you, Mia, that your husband is so supportive of your creativity. I salute him, and your gifts to all your friends and family - may your muse keep you happily occupied for years to come! Sending hugs to you in Greece - safe travels!!

  7. Oh, those spirals! In those colours!
I know exactly how those gelli-printing sessions can seize you. I did a whole stack of white tissue printing last week.
Aren't we blessed in our husbands? Mine buys me supplies he spots that I would never buy for myself (too expensive!) and is my biggest cheerleader.

    1. Oh, I have a thing about spirals, Tracy - they're just an extension of my circle obsession. ;-) And yes, we are blessed - John is just the same on both counts. Happy weekend, my friend - I can hardly wait to see what you get up to this week! xo

  8. Having my studio close to the rest of the house allows me to be in there even if I only have a short period of time. I like that.
