'Brat Cat' © Win Dinn 2019 |
This painting was loosely based on a photo of our Opal, who was always to be found in places she was supposed to be staying away from.
She had an affinity for bugs of all kinds,
And given that it's Valentine's Day today, you know there had to be hearts somewhere!
The card-making has been hot and heavy for the past while, and most of them were mailed late - how did that happen?!
I've been playing in the journal as well, and I'm wondering what ghost got into this spread - so not my usual colour palette!
This is much more like it! 😃
I'll leave you today with my take on the Valentine's Day - it's one size fits all, whether single, in a relationship or married. Happy Valentine's Day, my friends.
What a gorgeous selection, Win. And I love your cat!!!!!! Happy Valentine's Day, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mia, and Happy Valentine's Day right back to you...there's nothing better than a good love fest, right?!
DeleteOpal is looking great! The crown hints at her personality.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Eileen, and she was, most definitely, the queen of all she surveyed! ;-)
DeleteI love your beautiful 'Brat Cat' and the heart art and wow all those fantastic Art Journal spreads! WOW WOW WOW
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely delighted with this gorgeous projects!
Happy Valentie's Day !
Big hugs, Susi
Thanks, Susi - it's been such a heavy snowfall week here, and the colour just makes me grin. Thinking of all the spring and summer possibilities! :D
DeleteOnce again - with one exception - your world is filled with colour and imagination. A super piece of Opal, Win and the Valentine's are lovely. It doesn't matter if they arrive late, the love is still there. Happy Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteVal, you're absolutely right - those valentines will arrive just when they're needed the most, I suspect. As always, you are bang on!
DeleteHi Win, I adore your kitty she is gorgeous and that includes both of them. I'm just pleased that dogs are not so agile or I am sure my two would be in even more places where they are not meant to be. Wishing you a lovely creative week, Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angela - she was an amazing cat, so this portrait was great fun to do. We do love our animals, don't we? Even if we're in a complex now that forbids them, I can't help feeling she's just around the corner, even if she's been gone for a few years now. Sending you happy post-Valentine's creativity! xo
DeleteHappy heart's day! Love how Opal inspired you to be 'throne' into the Valentine's vortex!
ReplyDeleteRight back 'atcha, Linda - you are the punmistress extraordinaire, my friend! xo
DeleteLove that little bug on Opal's nose and how you've brought her character into the portrait. And isn't it fun to sometimes use a different palette? I think it pushes us out of the comfort zone, which isn't a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Valentine's Day and may every day be a day for sharing love.
This was a fun portrait to do, Tracy, and using all the crayons in a box is always a good thing! May your Valentine's Day have been the best - all that love expressed is such a wonderful thing.
DeleteYour picture of Opal is fabulous, so wall worthy. Nothing like a homemade Valentine, and yours are the best. Thank you for such a beautiful one. Hope you had a Happy Valentine's day and some chocolate too.
ReplyDeleteI found your Journal Play very interesting because I too made a mostly grey so unlike me picture this week...I think it's all the winter blahs outside, I've forgotten what color looks like. Have a wonderful week dearie and keep on arting along.
Thanks, Deann - painting Opal was like having her quirkiness back in the house again; she was a delightful cat!
DeleteThat's funny that we both did quieter pieces this week - apparently winter is going on too long (although ours has been exceptionally mild up until the last could of weeks, when the snow crazies hit!).
May we both have a hugely creative and most colourful week - we can warm this winter up together! Big hugs, my friend! xo
Happy very belated Valentine's day ! Love the catpicture ! Also love your journals even if it is different to your usual style ! Sometimes you have to just go with the flow !
ReplyDeleteCorrie x
Thanks, Corrie - that Brat Cat was great fun to do. And the best thing about journal work is that one can experiment to the max, even with colour palettes what are not the usual. ;-)
DeleteThe portrait of Opal is super adorable! I love all of the whimsical details you added. So fun and colourful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sal - she was a world's best cat, and it was a delightful portrait to do!
DeleteOpal looks so cute and I love the funky portrait of her. You're right that spread is not your usual colour palette but looks amazing - very vintage inspired! Have fun playing! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks on both counts, Zsuzsa - lovely to see you here! xo
DeleteSuch a happy post Win!
ReplyDeleteOpal is just beautiful! In real life as well as in full color! I love that painting of her! Well done! xx
Opal was truly the world's best cat - everybody who met her wanted her cloned. Thanks for the kudos on her portrait...that was great fun to do.
