Creston Rocks...

and here's why!

The Creston Valley Seniors Association is hosting a rock-painting class on March 9, 2019,  from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m., and you're invited (as long as you're over 21).  And since I'm going to be facilitating it, you know we'll have a blast.

Clean rocks, paints, brushes and whatever else catches my eye from the studio will be provided.  To register, please contact Marg Popovich at 250-402-6639.  Preregistration is required.

Although I've been away this week, I've managed to squeeze in some samples just for fun.  Because some of these painting 'newbies' will not have used a brush before, I've kept the designs simple for their first go 'round.  I expect they'll get hooked and be perusing Pinterest for greater and grander ideas when next they meet!

Don't know how this got in there - that doesn't look like paint at all.  Trust a mixed media artist to go astray.

Hope you've had a great week and are in the throes of creativity, too!  Catch me up on your doings in the comments below, my friends!

  1. It looks like it will be a fun class Win - especially with you in the lead. I have done rocks before but prefer a surface that doesn't weigh so much - lol. - Enjoy!

  6. I love those rocks and it remind me of my days as a young girl as I made figures with rocks. And ten years ago I stamped on rocks with sentiment stapms to give them as a present to people. I should make some art with rocks again , you inspire me! Your workshop will be a blast for sure and I would join in if it were possible for me.
Have fun and please take as much photos as possible - I always LOVE to be chairwise with you at this events!

Happy new week ahead my friend!
    Hugs, Susi

    1. Thanks, Susi - I love the thought of mini-you making figures with rocks. The Inukshuks we see across the country would be similar, I suspect. I will definitely take photos - this is going to be a fun time!

  8. I am laughing because I always thought I was the only rockmiester around. I used to use rock painting as a fun craft for all my kids craft groups and girls camp crafts. My favorite were prayer rocks that were beautifully painted and "Don't forget your prayers" written on the bottom, they even had a little poem that went with them to tell you to put the rock on your pillow so it would remind you to say your prayers each night. So ROCK ON my sister in rock art.

    1. Thanks, Zsuzsa - I'm looking forward to this class. One of my favourite things to do is to rekindle old pleasures, and many seniors haven't played with paints in decades. What could be more fun?!!!
