...in the studio I learn so much about what works, and what does not. Some play this week with painted cheesecloth and then dryer sheets gave me some new avenues to try when it comes to GAC400 and unusual fibres.
The startup, regardless of fibre, just looks as gloopy as with embroidery threads.
I did have a fun play with some of the cheesecloth, though,
and it got me wondering why I'd never incorporated any in paintings in this manner, given how much I love the softness of the way it layers.
And of course, with this week incorporating Father's Day, there was a card to be made for John. He mentioned that it had been nearly two decades since he wore a tie, though. 😉
We attended a car show on Father's Day, and really enjoyed seeing all the vintage vehicles. This one was John's favourite.
Hi Win, While looking at your string sculptures "the orange one", I had one of my wild ideas. Flip them over glue eyes on them and make them spiders for Halloween. I think they would be cute.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are so right, that cheese cloth would be gorgeous blended in a painting.
Your cards are so beautifully lovingly done, a mini masterpiece my friend.
John has great taste in trucks. That's the one I would choose. Or the Mustang. The pink one not so much.
Well summer landed on us suddenly 39.44 *C today. my tomatoes are wilting...lol I hope you are enjoying you summer.
Love and best wishes to you. Deann
Many thanks on all counts!!
DeleteThat's a great idea for spidery Halloween bliss...that creative mind of yours is a delight, Deann!
Summer is a little crazy here - we've had very hot days, and now snow is expected over the pass (and of course, we're heading to Castlegar today, and will undoubtedly hit some of it.
Sending heaps of love and absolute best back to you, Deann, and so many thanks for stopping by to comment! xo
Your cars always look much bigger than ours but guess it's a much bigger country and people have to drive alot further. Loving your play time too. Cheesecloth is an interesting fabric to work with, has lots of uses and takes dye well too. I will be interested to see how your experiments develop. Love the card too. Happy creating, Angela x
ReplyDeleteI'm darn sure the North American cars were much larger...some of them appeared like boats!!
DeleteOf course, dying cheesecloth is something that I've not tried, but now I'll be humming and hawing over those possibilities. ;-)
Sending creative vibes and hugs over to you, Angela!!
I love seeing your fibre experiments, Win. That orange one is like some lovely sea creature. And we're all for freedom from ties in this house - my hubby hasn't worn one since he was ordained just over twenty years ago and can get away with a clerical shirt instead :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tracy. Oh - a sea creature, and how lovely that would be in the midst of sea-green ocean!
DeleteIt's great to know your hubby is anti-tie, too. When we see one here in the valley, we automatically know that it's someone selling a far-out religion! :D
Oh là là, I love these stamens and other fibres, and all the adventurous discoveries you're having so much fun making. It's great!
ReplyDeleteThe Father's Day card is super. I love ties, but not wearing one is a sign of a free spirit for me. It's like a dog that won't wear a leash. Hahaha!
The rest of the time, it looks like you're having a great time. These cars are magnificent, but here it would simply be impossible to park them anywhere except in the open country...
Aaaaah, space, a real joy.
Did you find out what the big blue heap in front of the neighbours' was?
I hope this message reaches you this time, along with lots of hugs.
Thanks, Sim - they are great fun to play with,
DeleteSeems like everyone is the same with the ties. Like men's fedoras, they're going the way of the dodo, especially in small towns.
The cars are always fun to see, and I love the meticulous work that goes into the restoration of them. They are beauties when redone, and the adventurous colours make me smile.
Still have no idea what the huge bright blue 'bottle brushes' and I've yet to see the neighbour to ask him outright.
Sending you happy summer hugs, my friend - thanks for stopping by with your lovely comments!! xo
