...and this is definitely me when I was a child,
I wore
red everything - boots, scarf, tuque, mittens and once I managed to get into Mom's rouge as a four-year-old to complete the ensemble.
I use the colour over and over again,
and love all the variations of it.
It turns up in paintings,
and experimental pieces,
and in book after book.
I love how it looks with black and white,
and really, with any other colour in the spectrum.
Even when choosing a puzzle for John to work on, there's a strong likelihood it has a preponderance of red.

In fact, a view of my studio shows so much red (right down to my tool box in the bottom left corner) that one could think there is an obsession happening.
However, just in case you feel like this post is a little overdone in the red department, I'm including a photo of a 'pile of something' in the parking area of our across-the-street neighbour. Isn't it the most delicious pile of
blue one could view? While I've no idea what it is, I'm definitely loving the rich colour!!
Hopefully, it's back to the studio for next week's post. In the meantime, I'm popping over to your blogs to see what's going on in your world. Happy first week of June to you all. đđĒģđˇđģđ
I'm like you, dear Winn, I use red everywhere, on myself, around the house, and even in lots of everyday objects...
ReplyDeleteAll your works in red are magnificent!
You could take part in our friend Deann's new challenge: “Black, white and red”. I'm sure you have a whole stock of creations that would fit in with the theme ( https://ourmidweekmuse.blogspot.com/)
It would be so much fun to see you take part.
John's photo is super!
And the blue pile is great, I'm smiling from an ear to the other, thanks for sharing!
If you meet your neighbours, ask them what it is and then tell us, because it's a real mystery.
Lots of kisses and hugs, my friend.
There is just something juicy about any shade of red, Sim. Thanks for the info on the challenge - that sounds like it would be right up my alley so I'll pop over and take a look!
DeleteI will definitely ask about those gorgeous blue XL scrubbers if I get the chance. In the meantime, I may use them to visualize scrubbing plaque from my veins and arteries. đ¤Ŗ I'll bet they'd work a treat for that.
Ah a fellow "Ruby-phile" I love red when I was a teen I got to choose the carpet for my bedroom. Have you ever seen a bright red carpet "glorious".
ReplyDeleteAnd then there was my red velvet formal it was gorgeous. Now I live in a red brick house with a bright red front door and a big red sectional sofa.
I really zoomed in on all your red art, wonderful. The funny thing is, that pile of blue. I love most shades of blue, but not that one. It's strange how some colors & shades work and other just don't. I think you are an equal opportunity color lover...lol
Hugs, best wishes and a wonderful June my friend. Deann
How could one not love red? A bright red carpet - that would be awesome, to say nothing of a red velvet formal. And I know you and I are twins with our red sofas...I just have to talk the strata group into letting me paint our front door that bright red. đ
DeleteI know that strong cool ultramarine is not for everyone, but I it sure hits my colour bone in a good way!
Right back at you for a lovely June - may your weather cooperate to the max and your life be filled with joy! xo
Red just pops no matter what it's added to so no wonder you like it so much. The blue stuff looks like over sized toilet brushes but whatever they are the colour is so vibrant, imagine that and red together! Thank you so much for your kind words over at mine. I have enjoyed making the fancy fold cards for the Craft club ladies and they love them but I need to get back to being messy again. Have a lovely creative weekend. Hugs Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteSo true about red popping, Angela, and like you, I was imaging it and a hot red together and that set my salivary glands going.
ReplyDeleteHere's to messy creating this next week, Angela - I look forward to your results, as always! Hugs, Win
