...is the name of the game.
Before I finished the first nine collages, I was quite happy with one of them. Testing a new-to-me technique, though, had me wanting to tear my hair out. I can see that adding the 'stencil on tissue paper' is a technique that will take a ton of practice. It may be that I'll go back to my tried and true asemic writing and learn that one next lifetime. 🤣
I did enjoy the last three of the warm colour collages coming to life, though.
And now I'm in the midst of the cool colour paper-making. I'll show you some results of those next week. In the meantime, I've got another bee in my bonnet and I'm getting prepped for spring!
Hope your week has been fabulous - I'm heading off to see what you've been up to!!
Text and imagery has always been a challenge for me but I too am enjoying exploring it this year. Tissue paper and stencils, oh my I imagine unwanted tearing of the tissue paper.
ReplyDeleteTissue paper and stencils are my new anathema...I had more luck with the black dots on the tissue, but only marginally! :D
ReplyDeleteHeaven help us all, Win has another "Bee in Her Bonnet" That's just terrifying...lol And I still don't get tissue collages???
ReplyDeleteWin my dear friend I trust you. I trust that it's not a killer bee. I trust you to lead us to another beautiful adventure, next week and I can't wait.
Best wishes and big hugs from me, Deann.
It's a scary thought, isn't it? No killer bees involved! However, you're a fine one to talk with that 'girl with a curl' you posted last week. She was absolutely terrfiying. :D
DeleteTruth be told, I'm not clear on tissue collages either; I love the transparency of tissue but the regular art tissue is just so challenging to work with, and I've never been very patient. 🤣
I've been playing with that emboidery thread pile and GAC400, a stiffener for fabric...it remains to be seen whether there is hope for a finished project, or not! Happy week to you, my friend, and may your explorations be filled with joy!! xo
There are tissues and then there are tissues, they are not all the same and easy to work on but I'm sure you'll get there. Thanks fort your kind words over at mine, had the Gel plates out this week and made a nice mess! Happy crafting, Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteIt must have been the week for gel plates! With a friend visiting in town, I spent lovely hours creating prints with them, and now I'm ready to explore some collages with the results. Hurray for creative play!!
DeleteLearning new skills can be so frustrating, can't it? And it can be so annoying when you apply it to something you were pleased with and don't get the results you hoped for! I've had success with stamps and with embossing powders on tissue paper, but I've not tried stencils. Sounds like it might be a bit wet for such a delicate paper...
ReplyDeleteYes, that's the truth, Tracy, and I admit to being challenged by (what I call) tedious techniqes. I will persevere, though, as I love the results that are shown in the videos! There are tissues that are made for wetting, so that's something to try.
DeleteI get the impression that your studio sometimes turns into a laboratory because your experiments are so incredible and generate hair pulling and bees under the skull, Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, the collages in warm colours are very masterful, perfect!
I can't wait to see what you're up to and I'm giving you hugs!
Labratory, indeed, Sim. 🤣 Hair pulling, bees in the skull, bombs exploding everywhere. It's waaaaaaay tot much fun and seldom boring. Like you, I sometimes can't wait to see what I'll get up to next. 😉
