...that I got started on the cool colours for collage last week, and, of course, had a blast. Using Manganese Blue Hue and Hansa Yellow along with black and white, I managed some 35 sheets of paper. This time I created them mostly with gel printing. While they're not all complete (by a long shot), some of them are here.
Years of playing with colour means that I'm no longer wildly surprised at the range of hues associated with just two colours.
I'm liking the glow created around the Tyvek circle masks on the one below.
The wash pull on the gel plate is so soft, isn't it?
The addition of the miniscule amount of black on this print really changes the Hansa yellow.
Stamping on a black card was great fun.
Someone is more-than-slightly circle obsessed!
This was a mistake I couldn't duplicate if I tried, due to Murphy's Oil soap on the gel plate that wasn't cleaned completely off.
And I'm still loving the self-levelling gel method...it's so organic.
Oh, and I finished that project with embroidery thread and GAC400 I showed you last week, as I created an Easter egg basket for the upcoming weekend. GAC400 is a Golden medium one can add to fabric to stiffen it. Do you think that grandkids would believe the Easter Bunny lives in a multi-coloured bird-like habitat? I'm thinking they'd go for it!
Happy week to you, and may your Easter weekend be filled with the joy of spring, the deliciousness of good chocolate, the magic of make-believe and the dance of the Easter Bunny.
I'm coming to yours, those eggs look scrummy. Loving the new papers but think I must have missed how you do the self levelling Gel method, it looks brilliant. Pleased you liked mine too. Have a good Easter. Hugs Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteAs the gel method is in the Catherine Rains collage Kickstart course, I didn't share it. It's a twist on how I've used the self-levelling gel medium previously, and I'm liking the variety of look, though!! And yes, I think that wacko Easter Bunny nest shows off the chocolates to great advantage. 😉
DeleteIt's absolutely amazing what you can create with just a few colours and different techniques! The effect of the levelling gel is spectacular. You always impress me, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely and happy Easter with your family and in the studio.
I'm with you all the way, Sim, and really could play with colour alone for the rest of my creative life. Sending you Happy Easter wishes to the max, dear friend.
DeleteWin my friend, it is simply amazing how you create and create the most interesting and lovely things with color, paper and endless other ingredients like Murphy's Oil Soap (go figure). So I have to hurry back every week to see what you have done with your wonderful art.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't think I have forgotten that "Bee in you bonnet" which became a beautiful Easter basket. Yep, you are amazing.
And I wish you every good thing and a Happy Easter too.
So many thanks, Deann. I'm sort of thinking crazed is a more appropriate word than amazing, but I love your take on my creativity. Wishing you all the absolute best this Easter weekend - sending reams of joy your way! xo
DeleteThat Easter basket is exquisite!!!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks, and I've made two more, given that we have a chance to see our other two grandkids on Monday as well...photos to come, no doubt. 😉
DeleteI'm impressed with your restraint - only 35 pieces of paper 🤣 You achieved some great textures, especially that Murphy's soap one. Loving the subtlety on it. And of course, circles because who doesn't love a circle?
ReplyDeleteI think your grandchildren will absolutely go for the multi-coloured nest. Who wouldn't? Have a great Easter!
🤣Restraint indeed. And yes, the circles are so fun; I made several versions of them.
DeleteMany thanks, and have a great Easter, Tracy!
