...short on artwork photos, it's not because the week has been lax in any manner.
The big news, for me, is that I've finished my tenure as President on our condo association . The last months have truly felt like years, and I'm doing so much happy dancing and singing I'm sure you could hear it all from where you are. This means I will actually have some time to spend in the studio and I fully intend to get crazy experimental with it,
starting with some abstract colour play in the mini journal, and using a piece of canvas as a palette.
I've been ironing snowflakes (every time I use that phrase, I think how crazy it sounds), and may eventually get to the card/painting I have in mind.
I've also made a couple of birthday cards for condo residents who are celebrating this week - one for a full 80 years and the other for 82.
And I took a few moments for some household signage that will help John with his memory.
These aids continue to grow in number and I hope will continue to help for some time yet.
I hope that you had something fabulous to celebrate this week - do let me know in the comments, if so!
The sleepwalking story is quite amazing and slightly terrifying. Thank goodness for your helpful flatmate. It is insightful to hear about the connection with your snowflake art.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting that I am finding so many threads as I go through the process of working on my life story. It may be that we need decades of experience behind us in order to get a sense of what is really going on!
DeleteWell, how did I miss putting a snowflake-cutting tutorial on my blog? I seem to have dozens of tutorials on there (see the top bar, second from the end, just below the blog name), but no snowflakes???!!!! I must be mad given I create at least a dozen new ones every year for some crazy scheme or other. I've got it on my to-do-list, Deann and will flag you when it's up there!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that you will post some of your life stories when you get rolling on it, Deann...I have a sneaking suspicion we have some shared background. 🤔😉
I wait with bated breath, my friend, and send you a ton of love in the meantime. xo
Hi Win, I love your snowflakes. The real ones are special too, it's amazing that everyone is different. I think of all the dies I have there are more snowflakes than aything else. The area where we live have a residents monthly meeting with the local MP, police and other local people of importance and I have been asked several times to chair the meetings but have managed to avoid it so far but running out of excuses Lol! Please make sure if you go walking in a blizzard again that you are well wrapped up. Hugs Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angela. I just think snowflakes are so much like people - the core is all the same, but the configurations are uniquely special for each. I'm not surprised when I think of all your snowflake dies!
DeleteHold off on that position with the monthly meeting; they can take over your life so you have no time for yourself! ;-)
Here I go, wrapping up to go out into the winter. 🤣
Writing your life story is such a great idea for your children and grandchildren. Recently I've typed up some notes and poems from my father-in-law (who died six years ago) that were found in some notebooks. So interesting to get a glimpse into his childhood.
ReplyDeleteAnd 'ironing snowflakes' - only from you, Win 🤣
I'm finding the storytelling just so interesting, especially things that are dredged up from the deeps. I love it that you got to key up those notes from your father-in-law; how lovely you found them!
DeleteThis sleepwalking experience is totally impressive and it is certainly very logical that you are marked for life by it, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteThat said, your body is very strong, since you were not sick afterwards; and your mind is very strong too, since you transform this experience into works of art and beauty.
I did not know that John needed household signage and I feel very sad about it... Cognitive problems are a big fear for me who is starting to feel some disorders at this level. In any case, I send you my best and sweet thoughts.
Continue to have fun with shapes, materials and colours, dear friend.
I send you lots of hugs.
I was lucky to have such a friend to keep an eye on me - I swear my life is surrounded by angel friends.
DeleteJoh's dementia is slow moving, and I'm thankful for that. I've also been able to get him into a good program here in town, and that's a tremendous help. It's amazing to me how prevalent this is, and I'm wondering if it's all brought on by chemicals in our lives. It certainly makes one wonder!
Thanks and hugs right back, my friend. xo
