...a smash hit with me, so when it came to making a new book for the cyanotype cover, you can perhaps understand why the cover had to be red, and the insides, and the additions, and, and, and. And I just could not stop.

collaged some more,
and generally had a whale of a time. Check out the lovely ATC above that I snuck from my traded stash. It's by Tracy Woodsford and has long been a favourite. I love how it fits so perfectly on this page.
As artists, we all know that there are hundreds of tints, shades, tones and iterations of every colour, and it thrills me to think that I could do dozens of these books about seeing red, and never run out of material. Really, who could be more fun?!
I am so loving this it's stunning that red is a wonderful colour and what a great way to show case all those techniques. Hope you're having a good week. Hugs, Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ang - this was a fun project to do, and seemed like a perfect complement to that high-powered cyanotype case. Having and great week, and I could see that you have had the same! Sending hugs...Win
DeleteOh wow, another week of fun! It is tooooo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt is true that this cyanotype deserved all this splendid work done with all your heart and all your energy.
I love the torn edges which desacralize the object without undermining its perfection.
I am very sensitive to all these textures and I really like Tracy Woodsford's drawing too, it touches me.
Nice work of art my friend.
Long live the colours!
I send you sweet thoughts.
(In French, when 'one sees red' it means that one gets very angry.)
(I love red too, there are a lot of them in the house and on my person!:)
Thanks, Sim. Confession time, I tore the edges of the book signatures because I was not careful enough when cutting them. The inexact size was unappealing so I tore strips off to 'even' them.
DeleteThe same holds true in English, Sim, so the play on words had me a bit amused, given that this kind of 'seeing red' was not a bad thing at all.
I had a feeling that you were a lover of red, for some reason - another example of kindred spirits!
Happy week, my dear friend, as we play in the wide world of creating! xo
What an amazing book title. You are so good with word play!
ReplyDeleteThanks - this was great fun to do, and of course it makes me want to do a series of them in each colour of the rainbow!
DeleteOf course I LOVE this, Win - it's red! And what a lovely surprise to see the bit of my art making it into your book. What an honour :)
ReplyDeleteSince I'm such a fan of your work and of the colour red, I know that particular ATC will remain where it belongs - in my collection. Lovely to have it out on show! xo
DeleteIf there is anything that come close to my love for black it's definitely RED. I adore these, I especially like the first one and the second one and the third.... and the one with the face wow. You can just rock on with red forever my friend. Have a wonderful weekend you scarlet woman you. hugs
ReplyDeleteWe're definitely kindred spirits, Deann - Red is Best (and I'm sure you and your kids/grandkids know that book well!). There's a fun quote from Tony Hancock that says 'It's red hot, mate. I hate to think of this sort of book getting in the wrong hands. As soon as I've finished it, I shall recommend they ban it....' 😀 I think it fully applies to this and any other 'red' book. Sending hugs right back! xo
DeleteRed is one of my least fave colours but you make it very easy to like it ! Love it all ! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat's very kind of you to say so, Corrie - you are such a master at the cooler colours that it's a great compliment!!
