Hasn't this been a terrific week?

I've been gifted with a fabulous bag created by local artist Eileen Gidman.  She took a painted canvas of mine and turned it into a wonderful sketch bag.  It's the perfect size to hold a small sketch book, case of pencils, eraser (and you should know that's the most-used item when I'm out there😄) and a water bottle.

It's just perfect, so I took it out for a test drive almost immediately.  No, I'll not show you the results - it's been a full year since I was out sketching the last time.

I spent a great deal of time this week playing in my journal noire (thanks for that quick and sweet label, Deann!).  It seems that I was really into colour this week.

I couldn't get enough of the Inktense crayons, and I suspect there will be more of that this week.  There is such punch when strong colour hits black and white, right?

Tell me what you've been up to this week...are you well, staying safe and enjoying the summer?  I always look forward to hearing from you.

  1. This bag is simply fa-bu-lous!
And, most importantly, the painted canvas is so gorgeous that anything you could create with it will be stunning.
I love your ideas and creations for your black book, they are very effective indeed!
Take care and enjoy my friend.

  3. Win, I love this bag! Gorgeous canvas and it seems it is the right size for you! Enjoy! I always use tote bags as they are perfect for every case!
As for your pages, they are stunning! I especially love the mandalas (oh yes-that's why I make my mandalas). I use Inktense pencils, Gelatos and Neocolor II crayons, but your Inktense crayons seem very interesting! As for me, it was a very difficult week and I was very busy at work. Hugs, my friend.

  4. That bag is beautiful and so very personal a gift. Perfect for sketching forays. I have to admit that I'm hit and miss with sketching. I try to practice to improve, but find I don't use it that often in my art journals for some reason.
(Third time lucky - my comment disappeared in mid sentence a couple of times. )

    1. I'm hit and miss with sketching as well - drawing skills are not my forte as a result. Surely this bag will inspire me to get out and get at it!

I think Blogger is having some troubles shifting to the new design...I've had an issue or two this past week as well.

Happy week, Tracy, and thanks for persisting! xo

  5. Wow, your bag is gorgeous I adore the colors and it's the perfect size. aren't friends wonderful. Your black and white work is right down my alley and it just makes the colors pop, you are so right it has such impact. Black is a color I am very comfortable in. Keep up the lovely work.
This week I created an independent work for my son on kindness that I am happy about. He told me what he wanted and I have tried to create that vision. I will post it next week. Also I have been trying to get myself back into shape I am turning into a pile of flubber...lol I started walking again and I'm already up to two miles a day.
I can hardly wait to see your sketches out and about. Take care of you and keep on creating. Hugs, Deann

    1. Truly, I am gifted with my circle of art friends, Deann - local and online!

I am very much looking forward to seeing your work on kindness - this is not the first time your son has inspired you to create something specific!

Congratulations on your fitness regime; we, too, are heading back to (outdoor, social distancing) fitness classes this month, and hope to eventually get back into the gym. In the meantime, we are walking as well. Sending massive hugs and fitness frenzy, my friend. xo

  6. Stunning bag. You'll be styin' wherever you go! I had such fun checking out your journal entries. It amazes me that your artwork and your "titles," though perfectly paired, could easily stand alone! I do have to comment that your "sweet" entry befuddled me at first. I was so taken with the bunny silhouette I see that I totally missed the honeycomb until checking things out a second time. Duh! I also love that "Choose Joy" is sitting on a bed of frosted donuts! It may just be time for some wine! Mwah!

    1. Thanks, Zsuzsa - I consider fortunate to have such wonderful art friends. The support is amazing, and what one can't do, the other can. I'm sure this bag will be a constant companion in the future, thanks to Eileen!
