In a different city...

... and visiting a new granddaughter, Chloe,

I'm using the change of venue and circumstance to do some inner work around how I view things.  And that of course means that I'm doing some outer work as well with my camera.

I'm taking the opportunity to look at things in a different way, and the change is most interesting.  Macro shots turn decorative objects into something else entirely.

and looking in a different direction or shooting from a new angle can be bemusing.

I wonder, when we come to the other side of all this pandemic and strife, whether the change in viewpoint will give us an appreciation for life, a sense of empathy and love for all living things, along with gratitude for all that this world has to offer.  Here's hoping...

  1. Congratulations on your new grand-daughter - what a little cutie :) Enjoy your visit.

Love the new perspectives photos. Those stairs are vertiginous! It reminds me of when we gave our toddler a disposable camera (shows how long ago this was as there were no digitals at the time). When the photos arrived we went around the house trying to work out what the photos were of. Having pictures of your house from a much lower angle than you would expect reveals some interesting perspectives. I'm still trying to work out what that photo below the blue leaves is of. Intriguing.

    1. Thanks, Tracy, and that photo below the leaves is of a decorative platter in the B & B where I'm staying. It's in the shape of a many-finned fish, and the portion in the photo is merely a small part. I love your story of the your toddler's camera roll - I can just imagine how strange those photos were! :D Happy week, my friend...xo

  2. Oh Chloe looks ever so sweet surrounded in all the pink. A little ray of sunshine.
Great texture in those photos Win. I am particularly taken with the last one as I delve into another art genre and have been exploring wrought iron in the garden.

  3. Hi Win, very sweet baby and she looks so comfy. Now I'm loving the new photos but wondered if you've heard of a technique of shooting from the hip? and I don't mean with a gun Lol! It's a technique often used for photographing people as you walk so they don't actually know it's being done and gives a really interesting view and angel though I'm sure you could do it with other subjects too. It's something you need to practice as you're not looking through the view finder so it can be a bit unpredictable until you get the angle right as you're holding the camera just below waist height and then just clicking when you see something interesting but you get great results. Some of the photographs you've shown us have a similar appearance. Thanks for stopping by at mine and have a great weekend, Angela xXx

    1. Having a giggle about shooting from the hip, Ang - I've definitely done that with my mouth, but not yet with a camera. I'll have to try that while I'm out and about today just to see what kind of wackiness I can create. Thanks for the tip, and happy weekend, my friend. xo

  4. Chloe is beautiful! Love these photos, macro and from a different angle. In life, we hear so often “focus on the big picture” , looking at these macro shots, it’s totally proof that we can miss the best of something when looking at the big picture. Different angle, we see things definitely in a new perspective. It took me a second or two to figure out the stairs. Awesome photos.

    1. Thanks, Esme - I've long been a fan of macro shots and when John was heavily into photography he taught me a lot about them. I love taking a close look (at everything), knowing there is much to be learned doing that! Thanks for stopping by to comment, my friend.
