Bet you can't...

...guess what I've been up to this week (well, apart from purging/cleaning/downsizing, that is):

I spent a great morning with Laura Leeder

and we painted!  Given the upcoming Spook Day, we opted for pumpkins (thanks, Eileen for providing them),

and spent an inaugural morning in Eileen's new studio.

Can you tell we had a blast?  The morning went so quickly that this is about all I got done.  I'm not sure whether it was the photo-taking or the blabber-mouthing that had me slowed down, but I was IMMENSELY impressed with how much Eileen and Laura accomplished!

As I took breaks from my work at home, I added to the piece until it resembled a manic picture of my current life, with labyrinthian pathways, stops and starts, mad dashes and wild colour.  What could be more appropriate for this time of the year? I've got five more days until the big day, and I suspect this will get additions, because why stop at psychedelic when outright gaudy is a possibility?

I'm wishing you a Happy Halloween - may you enjoy the costumes and colour, with no tricks at all!

    1. It was a blast, Corrie - last year we dripped wax all over pumpkins, so it was a fun change. And your blog posts are a highlight of my week -many thanks to you!!!

  2. Cool, it’s always grand when artists assemble to paint together.
I fully expected Laura’s pumpkin to be organically floral. Yours and Eileen’s are just weird!
Yours definitely reflects your life at the moment - going ever which way as it is!

  6. I love your pumpkin what a masterpiece a truly fabulous and very original design. (You get 10 points for originality in my book) It puts a whole new spin on Halloween decor.
I am the family face painter I was up early this morning so I could paint my Granddaughter off to school. So much fun I love it and it lets me be happily involved in their little lives. Have a wonderful Halloween and don't let the ghosties get you.

    1. Goodness knows, Val - I can see that we've started a pumpkin tradition, though, so we'll have to be really creative in the coming years!

  11. Win, I love your geometric pumpkin and the whole idea of painting on them! It must have been so fun! Good luck with your downsizing - we did the opposite just two months ago and I've really enjoyed spreading out - and that includes my waistline as well, LOL! Are you moving as well or just decluttering? Getting rid of junk can be very liberating - just make sure you don't get rid of stuff you might need later!

    1. Thanks, Zsuzsa! And we are downsizing so extensively in order to fit into a condo (as yet to be purchased) that will be about half the space we currently occupy, sans garden, studio and garage. It will be quite the adventure, I know!!!

    2. It will be less work to maintain, that's for sure. We've just realised how much work it is to maintain the grounds, but that's what we wanted so can't complain! Make sure you get a decent sized art space though! That has to be a priority!

  12. Win I love your pumpkin and I love your photo!!
Best wishes on all that downsizing, purging and packing...did you say already? Do you have somewhere else picked out to live?
sending love and warm hugs on this cold rainy day! xx

    1. Thanks on both counts, Jackie! Yes, we're hoping to stay in the valley; finding the 'perfect' condo will be the second challenge! :D xo
