I am forever fascinated by three things - texture, rust and shadows, and this sculpture has them all!
I had to drool over the texture and colour in this...I'm a sucker for purple and copper at any time!

ReplyDeleteHere are some nice sculptures as well in my area - I always enjoy watching them. This here is my favourite - a few miles from my home.
They were, and are, Susi. That one you shared is astounding, too - it would be a favourite of mine, and I'll bet you visit it often!

DeleteJust LOVE that maple seed. We have quite a lot of sculpture exhibitions in this area, and a sculpture trail through the city. We picked up a couple of pieces in the last 18 months - a mantis and an echidna, both by local artists.
ReplyDeleteOn another subject, the turquoise filigree you were wondering about in my art journal is a wide washi tape. I love it as it is easy to embed into the background.
The maple seed is totally intriguing, and so very organic in spite of the steel construction. I love that you're picking up the organic pieces as well.

Wow these are very cool how lucky to be able to enjoy them. I adore other peoples artwork and am really blessed to live in a place where the arts are important in the community. I only wish they would realize how important art is in our schools. It is always and afterthought because of lack of funding. Anyway thanks for sharing your bounty with us.

I feel fortunate to have this excellent sculpture walk so close by; like you I feel like public art and art in schools is a necessity! It seems that lack of funding is a common problem in the US and Canada for the arts.

That made me laugh, Jackie - she was considering whether to choose it for her 'People's Choice' ballot and it was a tough decision! :D It was a fabulous show, and yesterday's trip to Nelson, BC gave me an opportunity to follow up on the participants in that city - just as good! xo
