of preparation for an upcoming workshop at TAPS, this time to create a landscape in collage. The challenge is, of course, to find a reference photo that encompasses the beauty of our valley, is visually interesting, and easy enough to translate into a project that is doable for all skill levels and abilities.
I've chosen these three photos in the hopes that one of them will fulfil all requirements.

So far, I've managed the first, outlining the segments in a Sharpie,
In the meantime, I have a stack of some twenty paintings on the worktable,

DeleteYou sure manage to keep yourself busy Win. I like the collage piece although I was hoping to see how you would manage the cows in the third photo - lol. You are a woman of many talents from teacher to home design - wow!
ReplyDeleteYes, Val - I too would love to see how those red cows might play out, but the thought of cutting them all (to say nothing of the pasting involved) makes me rein myself in! :D
DeleteThe linear quality of that first photo is stunning but at first I thought "Black and White - WHAT THE HECK?"
ReplyDeleteScrolling down I saw what you aimed for in cutting out, and putting back together, the segments of assorted coloured papers. Perhaps this is too difficult for some of your students, but you've made a gorgeous, stand alone work of art there Win!
Is that the feather painting, we started together, that I see at the bottom of the pile of unfinished works? I demand that you put that one at the top of the heap!
Thanks, Alice - I do love how the collage turned out, but suspect I'll need to find something less involved for the group. And DRAT! - I was hoping that you'd not notice the feather painting. Between you and Rochelle egging me on, I may have to finish the darn thing, in spite of my distaste for the job! :D xo

ReplyDeleteWhat's on my pallet this week? NOTHING!!! AAAH!!! Although I am spending a lot of time praying that when the computer repairman said it would be ready next week...he meant Monday.
I never realized I was such a computer art junkie, it seems everything I do is somehow connected with the computer.
Did you have a great time on your backwoods B.C. vacation? It sounds beautiful.

I had a great time in the interior, and managed to miss all the fires, although the smoke was prevalent everywhere, as it still is here. Clients are happy, too, so I'm happy as well!
Win, what a cool idea that is- I might have to give that a go someday! Ha- who am I kidding, it will go into my pile of neat ideas to try! heehee Glad to see you carry on for the rest of us dreamers!!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Shirley - we do live in heaven here. It's a gorgeous and fertile valley filled with orchards, vineyards and mixed farming. What more could anyone wish for? Except maybe where you live in Ontario! :D I hope you are settling in well...sending big hugs.
