I missed it...

...last week, that is.  Somehow I got caught up in the 'loving the fall' and spent a lot of time outdoors and not much in the studio.   I love this photo I took in town.  It feels like autumn is cuddling up to winter growth, don't you think?

I'm making up for the lack of studio time this week, though, and have managed to create some more vegetation on the 'small vases' piece.

as well as additional playing on the first large vase painting.  I'm pretty sure this one has already named itself 'The Great Escape'.  I'm wondering where those colourful bubbles are heading.

You've asked where the books currently reside, and here's my answer.  The shelves are jam-packed and higgedly-piggedly.  You're quite correct that Something Must Be Done.

To that end, I've pulled out the smallest of the books and an idea from the creative hat, and intend to make a mini nest/rest for them.  These four little crates are the perfect size to show them off, but I can already see it will take a miracle to make them look like anything akin to a bespoke shelf.  Wish me luck!!

And with Canadian Thanksgiving just passed this last weekend, my creativity also involved cooking, baking, and a glass of something (can wine be creative if one is just drinking it?).  The only photo I have, though, is our colourful cranberries-in-the-making.

That's it for this week, my friends, and I may be away next week as well.  If the weather permits it, I'm heading to Penticton and Kelowna over five snow-covered passes to visit family.  I've not yet trained the house sitter to do a blog post, so I'll put that on my mental list.  😉  In the meantime, I'm wishing you wonderful weather, magic in your studio and autumn happy days .

  1. The white painted negatively around the shapes draws your eye into each bit of delightfully coloured painted paper. I just love the result.

  2. I love your vases, they are so you, full of gorgeous colour. It's definitely autumn here too and the trees are covered in berries and nuts. Great collection of fungi too. I like the look of the crates and I know you will easily find a way to make them look the part. Think I would have to collage them with left-overs and then a covering of white Gesso to pull everything together so it doesn't distract too much from the lovely books. Now Snow! you're getting me excited. We're already booked in for two weeks away in the Alps and I'm doing my best to get plenty of execise in preparation. Enjoy your time away too. Hugs Angela xXx

    1. Thanks, Angela, and I am having a lot of fun with the vases. I'll bet the fungi will be grist for your creative mill, knowing how much you enjoy recreating them in felt! Not sure where those mini crates will go, but it'll be fun regardless.

The Alps? You are one lucky lady to be so close to them and have that snow opportunity. Exercise away, and enjoy your time there!!

  3. Lovely tree colors together they bounce off each other.
Yea! your cool vases, great job on all of those. I love the cactus one best it's so cute. Beautiful job on you bubble burping big vase. Where do you come up with these wonderful patterns. You're so gifted.
You're on your own with shelves my friend. I am not a shelf person. I'm a put stuff it in a box person...lol.
Thanksgiving sounds yummy I can hardly wait for ours.
And thank you for letting us know you will be gone next week. I worried myself sick wondering if you were okay last week. I was about ready to call out the Mounties. Drive careful, have fun and take care of you my friend.
Best wishes and Hugs from here, Deann

    1. So many thanks, Deann - your kind comments are pure delight. Bubble burping??!! You crack me up!

Stuff in a box? Now there's an idea for leaving if for the kids to find and clean up. 😀

Thanksgiving is always so fabulous - on the second day. It's almost worth the amount of work, isn't it? And you've got all that to look forward to yet.

Apologies about not letting you know about my absence last week. Sometimes the dementia is too challenging to cope with, and I'm left flat out of time and energy. I'll try to remember to give you a heads up next time, although I do love seeing the Mounties. I sure wish they'd wear their red serge daily, as they are just across the street from us, and it would be delightful to see them coming and going in that!

Many thanks for the hugs and best wishes - sending them back tenfold, with love. Win

  4. So much lovely colour this week. Those leaves are amazing, just the shade of pink/red that makes me happy. And those little vases are sprouting some lovely greenery, though I have to say that I'm captivated by the larger one with the bubbles. Circles, I guess :)
Wishing you safe travels and a relaxing time with family.

  5. What a lovely splash of colour. Those leaves are amazing - the shade of red/pink that makes me happy. And I'm enjoying seeing those little vases sprouting greenery, though I have to admit that the larger one with the bubbles is my favourite. Must be the circles :)
Wishing you safe travels and a relaxing and refreshing time with family.

    1. I' liking that bubble one as well...I can just feel the glory of bouncing out of that confining bottle and hitting the great wide world! ;-) Every circle just seems to relaxed. 🤣

Thanks for the good wishes on the trip. It may or may not happen as there are storm warnings for the return journey, and I have to be in a different city east of here for appointments. The joys of living in the mountains.

  6. How wonderful that you are spending time outdoors while you can!
That doesn't stop you from being generous and creative.
I love that red tree embracing the cypress trees in a tender, slightly possessive embrace.
I really enjoy watching your vases fill up little by little, just as plants grow little by little in reality. It's fascinating.
And what a wonderful idea, the bubbles flying away, escaping from their closed universe.
And, frankly, I think your shelves are very tidy, even if the little treasure boxes are an excellent idea.
I'm curious... What were you doing with cranberries and Grand Marnier?
I wish you a good week and a wonderful trip with your loved ones. Have a great time.
    Hugs my friend!

    1. Many thanks for your kind comments, Sim. It's always such a pleasure to view my work through your eyes, and keeps me creating as much as possible, even when the great outdoors is calling.

I finish my cooked cranberries (cooked in orange juice) with 2 tablespoons of Grand Marnier and the zest of an orange. It freshens even frozen cranberries, for a wonderful addition to chicken or turkey meals. I hope you try in and manage to stay out of the Grand Marnier drinking phase (not that I know anything about that! ☺️). Sending all the best in the world your way, my friend...xoxox ❤️
