. . . October, already? And yet, here we are. The days are cooling, we've had some rain, and the flower baskets are waning. It means, of course, that there's likely to be a whole lot more studio time before too long!
I've got all six signatures in the mini travel journal (5" H x 3 1/4" W and 3 1/4" D), after doing the first layers of collage on each of the six of the signatures. With 8 pages in each signature, that's 48 itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny collages.
The journal is my usual quiet palette (🤣) and by the time I add more layers to each collage, I'm sure they will be, as well.
I enjoyed working on these last collages,
and I expect adding more layers to the others
will be just as much fun.
I also managed to pull out some older experiments, and audition some full-size vase shapes on them. They'll be fun to get at in the next week or two.
Here's to a playful and creative month for you as we anticipate the cooler weather and a bountiful Thanksgiving (in Canada, that's October 13th). Happy week to you!
Win, Your mini collages are all little masterpieces. Everyone is so beautiful. You are amazing my dear.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to know where you keep all your little books...do you have a mini bookcase somewhere? I love the torn edges too you're so good at it. And I am hanging in there for your full size vases.
Have a wonderful, beautiful Autumn my friend. I would love it a lot more if it didn't plummet right into winter, but I guess we can't have everything..lol
Hugs and best wishes from me to you.
Deann
So many thanks, Deann - you are always so delightfully kind with your lovely comments. As to having a mini bookcase, that's a fabulous idea. And now I'll be on the lookout for one that suits all these tiny books, and will have another project to complete to make it as subtle as the books. 🤣
DeleteI'm with you on the autumn-turning-into-winter thought. Perhaps we need to add '-then-spring' to encourage ourselves to look on the (future) bright side. ;-)
Sending you all the best, as we upcycle our thoughts into spring, my soul sister! 💗
Oh my, all these little books are like little treasures; and I can't wait to see the larger vases where every detail will be easier to savour.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time in your fairy-tale world, my dear friend.
Many thanks, Sim. Goodness knows that living in a fairytale is just the best place to be, isn't it? 💗
DeleteThis little journal book is gorgeous and the pages too, looks like a great way to use up all those small pieces that we just can't throw away. I had wondered though like Deann, where you store all these lovely things. I have problems myself and so many just end up packed away in a box which seems such a shame. Keep up the good work my friend. Hugs Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Angela, and I'm just loving Deann's idea about a mini-cabinet for them. I'll be on a hunt at Gleaners (our local recycle place) to see if I can find one! Now if I can just create books faster, I could watch those exploding boxes diminish in size, rather than increase daily! :D Sending hugs right back over the waters, my friend! xo
DeleteI love coming to your blog for a 'quiet' pause in my week, Win 🤣 You know how I love a quiet palette. I'm definitely getting a 70s vibe with that orange collage.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your cooler autumn and extra studio time. I shall be heading into that stage where you have to get the paint on the canvas quickly otherwise it dries on the brush.
Thanks, Tracy, and I definitely hear your about the painting drying too fast. I'm always grateful in the summer to have a basement studio that keeps relatively cool so the 34 degree weather doesn't do us in! Happy and safe summer to you - may the weather ameliorate and the fires ignore your country! xo
