What chaos -

 - this time of the year, isn't it?  I sneak into the studio to play when it get's too much for me, and I've no doubt you all do the same.

My December play prompt has been late materializing, but I'm finally into it.  I took a piece of the 'cover-my-tables-to-the-max-butcher-paper' that had been replaced, and tore into it with alcohol markers, inks, high flow paints and Posca pens.  While nowhere near done,

it's great fun to see what is happening.

This project could continue well into 2024, and I'm not even betting against 2025.

Lots to look at,

and if your eyes are already glazing over,

feel free to skip to the end (assuming there will be one).

This shot is a week or two further into the process,

and the following ones are up to date (likely until this afternoon).

Really, who has more fun than artists?  I just can't think of a better way to spend my time.  💗

Sending you all the best and brightest of holiday wishes; may the lights of peace, hope, love and beauty shine on you throughout.

  1. The butcher paper colour is like an under painting. This technique is pushing you into different areas of exploration. Love the one with the faces.

    1. It most certainly is, and I'm having a giggle about you loving the faces one - that's my least favourite bit, 'cause goodness knows they don't look anything but alien to me! 🤣

  2. That is just amazing my dear. I would love to cut you loose on a giant canvas like Jackson Pollack, your work is so much more interesting and delightful to me then his. Anyway "Rock On" I love it and look forward to the end result. You are such a purveyor of joy and love.
Wishing you and yours the very best a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy and healthy New Year.

    1. Well I'm having a giggle over your Pollack work - we are of like minds there. I do find this particular very freeing. Knowing I'm playing on a substrate that has no intrinsic value keeps me loose and uncaring about the results - the best way to learn, of course.

As always, thanks for your kind and loving comments; it's always such joy to see them come to my inbox. May you and yours enjoy pure delight this season. xoxox

  3. I knew you wouldn't be long before you got something new started. Watching you makes me realise I have this block sometimes that stops me from being really creative. I am determined next year to shut the door on these thoughts and free myself but think I will have to do it in small stages. Wishing you a very happy Christmas, a great New Year and look forward to seeing what else you get up to. Hugs Angela xXx

    1. Always something new to play with, Angela. I understand about the block - I keep a list of playful prompts and make an effort to use one at the beginning of each month. Sometimes it takes me the full month to engage with it, but it's always rewarding in one way or another.

Best of the season to you and yours, and may the New Year bring you all you could wish for. xo

  4. Now there's an eyeful of colour! Glad to know you have something to sneak off to when it gets too peopley :) My easel is always up and my journal always ready to receive a few marks or a swoosh of paint. We introverts need to plan for the retreat amid the festivities, don't we?
Have a lovely peace-filled Christmas and a year that's colourful in all the right ways.

  5. That's so crazy and wonderful! I can see how much fun you had with it! They will make wonderful collage elements if you have the heart to cut it up! Or you could even frame parts of it!
