It's been another week...

...of playing in the studio.  I've done a meditative mark-making project from #creativejumpstart21, inspired by @AndreaChebeleu and turned it into a small book utilizing a suggestion from another student to bind it.

I've finished two more mini books from another lesson, with three more to go:

The black and white journal has a couple of new spreads,

progress is being made in the stabbing department (although I am still flummoxed by the choice involved in choosing the covers),

and I delighted in a very quick and not-at-all-dirty tutorial by @SethApter.  This storyboard project (photographed on my oh-so-subtle file cabinet) took less than ten minutes, and I can see a great range of applications for playing with it.  It cracked me up that he stapled his storyboard labels to his backing, and that one can actually purchase colored staples.  Did you know that?  It opens up a whole new world of possibility, doesn't it?  😄😎😄

I just love being in the studio and trying new things.  I can see there will be a host of new classes in my pocket (and $$ flying out of it) if this Covid-thing lasts much longer.

    1. Of all the things in this today-world that I'm grateful for, Sim, my studio time ranks very high, as do my online hugely creative friends. It is, I think, the artist sanity! xo

  2. I so love your mini books it's a great way to use those lovely papers. I had a look at the creativejumpstart, maybe I should get out some of my older stencils and have a play. Thank you for the lovely comments over at mine too they are so encouraging. Sometimes jumping from one technique to another makes me dizzy but I can't get out of the habit of doing different things and I really miss those keen little faces arriving to see what the plan is for the day so I guess I'll just keep trying to teach myself instead. Have a lovely creative week my friend xXx

    1. Many thanks, Angela - I'm loving doing these small books and coming up with new ways to create them. I can hardly wait to see what comes of your stencil play, given that you and I are a 'try-something-else-and-something-else-and...' pair of peas in a pod! Happy week my jumping bean friend! xo

  3. So interesting to see with embroidery stitches show up in the mark making journal. I like it.

    1. I'm having a giggle over that, Eileen, given that I found the embroidery stitches a LOT easier to draw than to stitch...a thought for more dryer sheet projects perhaps. :D

  4. You've certainly been busy this week! Loving all that mark-making, and it's in red, so immediately draws my attention :) And you seem to be working through all those mini books at a pace. Looking forward to seeing the finished Japanese binding.

  5. Great work this week, your creativity inspires me! I loved Creative Jumpstart when I took it. This Covid thing has me slowly working my way through multiple online Iessons I have purchased over the years (finally!) And I am sure it would not surprise you to know that I have a drawer full of boxes of coloured staples that you are more than welcome to!

    1. I'm smiling at you working your way through courses you've previously purchased and not used...guilty here too. And I laughed out loud at you have a drawer full of coloured staples. Of course you do. :D I look forward to the Covid-free time when we can play together again, and I'll definitely take you up on your offer. Sending hugs down the 'back Erickson road' to you, my friend!

  6. I am so glad you have found so many things to keep you happy during this tedious bit of time. You always have something fun and beautiful to make and share...I love your booklets.
I want explain my creepy angel picture this week. I created the angel from seven different pictures. She looked so sweet I wanted her to be holding something special, so I went looking for a beautiful flower. I found the that flower it was just what I want, and I noticed the name off to the side "Sacred Datura" wow a match made in heaven. So I finished the picture and was really happy with it. Then I got to thinking with a name like that this flower must be really special. So I did some research and was shocked at the definition which I decided to post after I decided not to change the picture. After thinking about it I asked myself how many times do I accept something or someone as good without question because it or they are beautiful. My lesson was look deeper. I think it was too obscure for my visiting friends they are trying to find me psychiatric help...lol
Take care of you my truly beautiful friend. Hugs

    1. Oh, thanks for the explanation on the Sacred Datura - I was fascinated by the imagery and then even more so by the definition. For those of you who've not seen the piece, you can see it here: https://thestardustfactory.blogspot.com/2021/02/divine-deception-t3ms-angel-challenge.html

I have great appreciation for your insight on this piece, given that I, too, have a tendency to take beautiful things at face value. It's sobering to think that things are not necessarily what they seem. I think that the same holds true for beautiful and ugly... As always, thanks for expanding my horizons! Sending hugs, you deep-thinking master of creativity!
