It's one of those weeks...

...when I find myself with a host of projects - all at that ugly stage.

Because I'm in a heavy experimental mode, I've nothing finished and had to stop for a gel printing session, just 'cause it's one thing I know how to do.

The rest of the tables are covered with odd, messy and unlikely-looking craziness.

All of the above will have layer upon layer added to them as I explore the textural aspects of mediums and gels.  Who knows where they will end up?

Upstairs, I'm still working on my black and white journal (sorry, no photos) and the fabric spiral piece.

I quite like the upper right spiral on the one end, and may just cut that bit out and eat it.  😀

Now, catch me up - what have you been up to this past week?  I'd love to hear all about it!

  1. Oh, that ugly stage! Of course, ugliness is in the eye of the beholder. Personally I love that second one. A few words in black and I'd call it done :) But that's the wonder and delight of art, isn't it?

And thank you for your (constant and always welcome) encouraging words about my flash-card journal. Although I prefer plain pages, I've set up another journal with bits and pieces already in it. It does one good to be uncomfortable sometimes, doesn't it?

    1. There are definitely possibilities with that one, Tracy, and the process is great fun regardless.

I'm looking forward to how you deal with your new 'bits and pieces' journal; your posts are always uplifting, informative, and most of all, truly beautiful!

  2. Me too, I really like these kind of snails, they remind me of fossils in a rock of colors ... You are incredibly creative, your muse appears never to be at rest! I can't wait to know what all your experiments will give.

(Thank you a lot for your clever and sweet comments my faithful friend ! :)

    1. I could spiral endlessly, Sim, and working on a bed of colour is the best fun. I'll keep you posted on the experiments - good or bad results (and I've had a ton of the latter :D ). xo

  3. I love swirls!!! I love drawing swirls on backgrounds. Your swirls look... delicious (ha ha!) -well, I love eating snails! It is a traditional food of Crete (the biggest greek island).
As for the layers, I know exactly what you mean, Win. Some times I put one layer over the other and I forget to stop! Hugs, my friend.

  4. Experimenting is the best bit. I try not to think what I plan to do with anything I'm working on or it spoils the fun. I think there are times when we all think that something looks ugly but then it's time to walk away and leave it for a while, they usually look better when you go back. When I was teaching I used to go round the bins every evening before going home, to save all the pieces that the children had decided were ugly and of course we always managed to resurrect them. Moving on to Gel printing is a good distraction but once I start those I can't stop so don't tend to get anything else done. Now I have to say that I love! love! love! the spirals and imagine they are also a good distraction. I've never wanted to eat my art work though lol! You have a lovely week my friend. Big hugs, Angela xXx

    1. I love experimenting with everything, Ang...although I don't often show the in-process photos. :D I totally agree about the teaching aspect - it's a constant battle to encourage the students to keep at it until it sings, although it most often will. It's such a gift to see the pleasure when they resurrect a piece-gone-bad.

I, too, love the spirals. Like circles, they call to the Infinite for me. And they're relaxing to do, to boot!

Have a great weekend, my crafty friend...hugs, Win

  5. Well, I enjoy your unlikely looking craziness. I can't think of anyone who does more things more different way then you. Your spirals are awesome and You are amazing.
Down here we have been trying to survive another 2020 scourge, winds that blew for two days and nights straight at hurricane force and knocked down many power lines, branches and big old trees for 90 miles up and down the Wasatch Front. So we are doing clean up, holy moly what a mess. However poor California has winds and fire. We came through okay, now getting I'm geared up for locust.
Keep up the great work and take care of you. Hugs

    1. Thanks for the kudos on the craziness, Deann...I do really wonder sometimes where, when and why my brain goes in so many directions. ;-)

We, too, have had a day of horrendous winds; many trees are down, power outages all over the area, and so on. Like you, we're keeping our eyes out for the locusts and King Kong. 2020 is a world that is beyond even the wildest of imaginations!

Take care of yourself, my dear friend, and keep feeding my muse in your blog posts. xoxox
