Well, wasn't that...

...a bookmark-making party at the library?   Those ladies were ready to go all night they were having so much fun.  With around 80 bookmarks completed, that's a lot of donation-funding from an event that was such a blast.

My inner colour pig was SO happy...

...and I was most certainly not the only one feeling that way.

In marked contrast to all that colour...

...we had an overnight snowfall this past week, and it was still falling at 6 am when I took my morning walk.  It was so beautiful - snow-puffed trees, lacy in the dark and aglow with lamplight. Just as I walked out onto the street something flashed in front of me and was gone. I walked a few steps to see, to my left on Cedar Street, a family of deer poised for further flight. There were half of dozen of them, standing in the middle of the street, frozen like a 1950's postcard, waiting to see if I meant them harm. We spoke to each other silently for a few moments and when I finally said good morning, they literally bounced once and then danced off towards 16th Avenue, flapping their tails in a cheeky goodbye. This world is pure magic.

While these photos were taken later that day, it's easy to see how lovely it has been.

I had a studio visitor this week as well - Laura Leeder and I tested some acrylic markers by Amsterdam, Golden Hi-Flow acrylics and their markers, and some needle-tipped paint applicators.  Naturally we had a lot of fun, and made some great comparisons of the different styles.

It's obvious that we both need to add to our stash of tools!

And something that made me laugh hysterically...I was moaning to Laura that I couldn't get a good photo of some gel pen work I'd done, and she asked whether I'd tried to scan them.  Well, duh!!!  No, I hadn't, so here they are.  ☺️

Since we're coming up to Valentine's Day, I'll leave you with some love.

Happy week, my creative friends!

    1. Oh those deer were a true gift - what they were doing in the middle of town, I've no idea, but it was truly magical (and cheeky :D). We had a great deal of fun with the bookmarks, and it's wonderful to know they'll make such a good fundraiser! Hugs right back, my friend - it's good to see you here, as always! xo

  3. Just beautiful to see all that productive creativity - a colour sensation and all for a good cause. Love those gel pen pieces too, standing out so well against the black.

We, too, had snow this week. It looked pretty yesterday but today is just a leg-break-waiting-to-happen sheet of ice. No deer for us, either. It must have been a magical moment.

    1. Thanks, Tracy...I have to admit that I'm addicted to strong colour against black. Truly, it makes me drool.

The snow now is mostly gone, but that morning it was truly magical (although, like you, the next day was treacherous!!!).

      Happy weekend, dear friend!

    1. Susi, those deer were pure delight! I've not seen a fox in years, so that would have been awesome to see, most certainly.

Thanks for the lovely comment on the black pages - colour on black just makes me so happy.

Happy weekend to you as well, Susi - see you next week! Hugs from Canada!

  9. It looks like your bookmark party was a great success. I love how everyone expresses themselves so differently in art. It why I enjoy it so much.
Winter really is a gorgeous time of year all that crystal and white like a faerie land. We live by a river so we also have deer and all sorts of wild things coming and going in our backyard it keeps life interesting.
I love your wonderful gel work I used the first one (a personal favorite) in Win Dinn's Mona and all the other colors where backgrounds you create, you talented lady.
Have a wonderful week mixing up magic.

    1. It was great fun, Deann, and I felt like a kid in a candy store with all that creativity around me.

I love being in a small town for the frequent visitors - deer, coyotes, an occasional moose, and once even a cougar.

I so much enjoyed seeing all my work wound up into one of your fabulous Mona Lisa pieces, Deann. For those who'd like to see it, here's a copy/paste link for you: https://thestardustfactory.blogspot.com/2019/01/win-dinns-mona.html
