From one thing...

...to another like a distracted and discombobulated hummingbird, my creative juice is coming from all sides this last while.

As I prep for a bookmark-making playtime at the library this weekend I've been making examples,

jumping to one of my art journals for a spread,

clearing some studio space for an unexpected guest (aka John/hubby/Mr. Fixit),

roaring back to the journal again,

(including a jingle, of all things,)

organising supplies,

heading over to a neglected love fest,

and settling back into the journal yet again.

I dream of being the kind of person who is focused, capably manages one task at a time, completes it and then basks in the feeling of job well done.  Dream, of course, is the operative word!

Since you're here, I'll remind you that if you're in the area this weekend, it would be a great idea to sign up now (register and pay at the library) for the Library Love event.  Using paper scraps, stamps, scissors, glue, gusto and a sense of adventure, we're going to create bookmarks to be donated to the library, who can then offer them to readers in exchange for a donation.  Three ways for us to win - creativity, community giving and clearing of some of the prodigious paper stash in my studio.  What could be better!  The $5 supply cost is the best money you'll ever spend for hours of mixed media play.

  1. I just love that mind picture you conjure of a hummingbird, Win. I mean, who can focus on one thing when there are so many wonderful things out there to try? A bit here, a bit there, it keeps the boredom at bay for our creative butterfly minds :)

    1. There are just so many things to do in the studio, aren't there? Jumping from one to another certainly keeps the boredom at bay, Tracy! Happy weekend to you, my friend, and even happier creating!

  2. Mmmm! pleased you're organised for the weekend Win. It's the last Saturday of the month so it's our Craft Club day on Saturday and I just can't decide what to take with me. We've been so busy since we got back that I haven't had time to think about it and at this rate I will be sat there still thinking about it on Saturday. Really need to give it some thought if I'm going to be sorted. Have a great weekend, Angela xXx

  3. The bookmark workshop is sure to be a blast Win and people will get enough colour and creativity to last them quite a while. Your bouncing around from subject to subject seems to be creating some very lovely pieces - if it works don't knock it!

    1. I most certainly hope that's the case, Val - I so much enjoy the fun that a room full of mixed media enthusiasts engenders! And I'll certainly take creativity however, whenever it comes, as I know you do!

  4. Of course fabulous projects all, but bookmark making at the library what fun and what a stellar idea. I wish I were there.
As far as DREAMING of organization goes, let me leave you with my motto which is painted on a very large sign over my office door. "SANITY IS THE PLAYGROUND OF THE UNIMAGINATIVE" Rave on my wild and crazy friend.

  5. Enjoy the workshop ! Sounds fantastic and great that you are so well organized for it! I love the journal pages!
I have always so many unfinished projects that I often forget about a few of them, but when I find them again they often come handy for something wonderful and much better than I intended as I started with them.

    Hugs, Susi

    1. Oh I'm with you on that, Susi - having the 'squirrel' thing is a great advantage for an artist, AND we can cut, chop, and paste to our heart's delight to make our visions become visible! <3

    1. And isn't creative freedom the best?! I was delighted to see John in the studio - he's a wonderful artist, and got side-tracked by the garden when we moved here. Hopefully he'll get back to art now!
