Got plastic?

Why not use it?

We've all got a ton of plastic around the house, and I think using it to create interesting backgrounds is a great technique.

This background start was created using plastic objects from the studio (yes, I do keep a stash of outlandish plastic bits and bobs there), followed up with some ArtFoamies.

If you'd like to see how this was created, check out the video (and I'd love it if you would subscribe to my channel while you're there!):

I think creating patterns with plastic is a unique technique:

and when you add ArtFoamies to the mix you're in for some fun.

Of course that's not all that went on in the studio this week.  Given the season, there had to be some card-making, because I inevitably leave things to the last minute.

I think it was exceptionally talented of me to get the front and centre card upside down, don't you?  They don't call me Wingding for nothin' you know!  :D

And while I was studio cleaning, I found the tags that went missing a couple of weeks ago - yay!  Now to make some more!

I hope your week has been filled to the max with creativity - playtime is highly underrated, my friends!  💛💚💜💙♡💚💛

    1. Thanks, Susi...it's so much fun to create that I can hardly stop myself, and I KNOW you're the same. Hope that lovely pooch of yours is doing as well as can be expected...sending puppy love for him! xo

  2. Loving those warm colours, Win. I must shop in the wrong places because I've never found plastic thingies that are that much fun :) That card made me smile, too. I've seen trees that hang from the ceiling, so maybe these are the baubles that go on them...

    1. Check out the embroidery section of your thrift store, Tracy - oh, and the hardware. They's got some bizarre things there? :D GREAT thought on the card - I knew it belonged somewhere. Giggling over here now, and looking for an upside down Christmas tree.

    2. Ah, good idea. I've found the hardware store to be useful in the past. However, at the moment we're heading there for boring things to get the garden in check.

  3. I am loving the technique Win. I am also pleased to see that you loose things as this makes me feel much better. At the moment I am unable to remember where I put several small boxes containing those tiny distress Ink Pads, now I know I put them away safe !!!!!! Sending hugs Lol! xXx

    1. I lose and find things so often in the studio that I don't even consider things 'lost' anymore...they're just in temporary hiding! :D Happy weekend, Angela - xo

    2. I can relate to that Lol! It's quite exciting when they turn up, just had one of those moments when I found the finger covers that I use for Needle Felting xXx

    3. Now those are small enough I can see how easily they get lost in a studio - in fact it would be easy to collage them into something. :D Glad they turned up safe and sound, Ang!

  4. What a cool technique with the stencils! I guess where it didn't work perhaps the surface wasn't wet enough to move the pigments around - or too wet so the water pooled under the stencils - who knows - it was fun to watch nevertheless and something for me to try!

    1. The softeness/hardness of the plastic, amount of weight it's bearing and the flatness of the surface all has a bearing, Zsuzsa, which is what makes the technique so fun. Like Christmas, you never know what you're going to get (if anything :D )!

  6. Winn I think you are the most innovative and creative person I know, is there no end to your madness...lol These backgrounds are so beautiful and fun, I plan to snitch one right away. Your ornament Christmas cards are fabulous. I wouldn't worry to much about the upside down one...aren't we are all up in the air this time of year. Last but not least your tags are adorable.
Good luck in these last days before Christmas it's getting down to fudge and cookie making time. I'll bet you are fabulous at that too. You rock my friend.

    1. So many thanks, Deann - I cannot imagine a life without a wide variety of playfully creative 'happenings'! I'll be watching to see what you do with those backgrounds...I can hardly wait!

And upside down is just fine...doesn't it make one look more closely? :D

Yes, it's getting down to sweets-making time...I'd forgotten I'd signed up for an international exchange, and had to do a quick scramble yesterday to get some wrapped and ready for the post office today...may all the postal gods get that package to Germany in time. :D

Wishing you the absolute best in your fudge and cookie making...I'll bet those batches will be Grandma's Best! xo
