...and truly, that's all I can say about my studio week.
Not only have I played with embroidery until I'm near blind, I've been burning, burning, burning, and while there's little smoke involved it's definitely been an inferno in here.
Free-hand stencil cutting is an easy thing to do, and a leather burner is just the tool for it. And doesn't that bright red handle look great with the grey?

DeleteWow, these are amazing, Win! No idea what 'house wrap' would be called here in Australia. What's it for, anyway? I usually use cardboard coated with sticky-backed plastic - you know, the stuff you use to cover schoolbooks. I hand cut them with very pointy scissors.
ReplyDeleteI think this product is something comparable to our house wrap, Tracy (http://www.thermakraft.com.au/product/coverup-house-wrap), used here as a barrier between walls and exterior. It's plastic (much like plastic envelopes, only thicker and with a threadish pattern). The thread adds another textural dimension if one uses that side down on a Gelli plate. Great fun, at any rate!
DeleteAh, something else to play with on the gelli-plate :) And thank you for researching that - I went and had a look at the site. I may be able to pick something similar up in the local hardware warehouse. But then of course I'd also need a tool to burn it...
DeleteYes you will, Tracy - the burners (they're designed here for leather, apparently) are relative inexpensive at $13 or so, and mine has been burning for a very long time. :D
