Fernie, BC? It's awesome!

I had fun packing up the studio on Thursday for a road trip - this time to Fernie, BC. By Friday morning the boxes were lined up under the watchful gaze of The Head (Opal the Studio Cat was busy roasting herself in front of the gas furnace and wouldn't deign to have her photo taken with the supplies).

The drive to Fernie was lovely and I arrived in time to set up the classroom on Friday afternoon.  The Arts Station has a gorgeous, light-filled playshop area, and it was fun to organize displays and stations.

At the table next to the sink and scrub area, I set out the contents of the share box.  They seem to expand with every playshop, rather than the reverse - can't figure out how that happens!

These ladies, Becca, Anna, Jordana and Kathleen, were keeners right from the first technique - they'll henceforth be known as the No-Fear Gang.  Before too long the floor was strewn with starts, middles and near-completions.  How did they manage that in just six hours?!  They got through at least fifteen techniques and variations by the end of the day.

Becca was so keen she refused to leave the play area at lunch time; we worked through and chatted up a storm when she took time out to view the altered book on display.

By 3 pm, the race was on - to finish layers of medium on photocopies for skins, to try some additional techniques, to add layers and to go, go, go hard for one more hour!

You can bet that by the end of the day tomorrow, they'll be even more exhausted, exhilarated and addicted to mixed media!  Watch out Fernie (and Canmore - since Kathleen was attending from there!).  You've NO idea what's about to hit ...
