Books, books, books...

...how I love them.  I can't bear to see them discarded, even when they're broken and abused.  That's where creating book sculptures come in.

My most recent sculpture is crafted from a book by Harlan Coben called Hold Tight.  It's a terrific novel, one I've read more than once, and when a friend gave me a damaged copy I knew it would need to become a wall sculpture.

I'd hate to count the hours taken for folding,

cutting

 and curling,

 but you can assume that it was a very large number.

I'm always intrigued by the isolated words that show up in these sculptures,

 wondering about 'his chin'

 and 'eleven-year'.

I think this will hang loose for quite some time on our walls.

...it a good day when I can spend  time in the the studio, and now that I can play while I'm at work, that happens nearly every day.

This week I managed to finish a crate

 and a book sculpture.

 I  embossed teen-some tags for future exchanges,

 and nearly finished a fun foam tangle drawing (Gelli plate here I come!),

as well as a painting (just a sneak peak here).

 I started laying out pieces for a gold themed painting,

 and gazed cross-eyed at a pair of shoes waiting patiently near two bottles, all in progress.

I also inked half a dozen mandala designs for my next adult colouring book.  Go, Win, go!
