It's been a whirlwind week...

...and I'm happy to sit and catch my breath today.

The house has sold,

a condo has been purchased (it's about four blocks away, and exactly what we wanted - thanks, Carol!), and we can now prep for a move on May 22.  All this in twelve days from listing!

Once the craziness died down, I was able to spend a moment or two in the studio to finish that page I started last week.  I know I'm truly going nuts, because I'm likely the farthest thing from a hockey fan one could find, yet here is a (sort-of) hockey-themed page regardless.  Somebody was obviously feeling very playful after the hiatus.

A second spread is curing under John's book (it seems to be the only one left in the house after all the purging and packing).  At least, I hope it's curing, since it looked pretty ill when I covered it up!

And the tables in the studio are once again covered with a series of unfinished projects - how the heck did that happen so fast?

I did manage to finish a painting for the first time in ages, so I can tell the muse is back in working order.

Do catch me up on your doings in the comments below - I'd love to hear what you've been up to this week.

  1. Oh, Win, that's fabulous news! A quick turnaround AND a larger studio - thumbs up for that :) At least with a move just around the corner you can keep up all your old friendships and activities. I hope it all goes smoothly and you're soon finishing off those wips in your new space.

My new studio is smaller than the old one, but I've already sussed out where all the furniture will go and it should fit nicely since I left my (very large) vestry cabinet behind. Plus I have a skylight window so the light is lovely. Now I just need to paint the walls as they are lilac and cream and really not my cup of tea...

    1. I am in definite agreement, Tracy; we're so very pleased, and who could argue with a larger studio?!!!

I hope your wall-painting goes quickly so that when your ship arrives, you'll be moved into the studio in double-quick time. Sending you happy studio thoughts, my friend! xo

  3. Wow! Congratulations on selling the house so fast. BTW the tables in the studio got filled up so fast because you are you and once you get started there is no stopping you. I like your "Spring Storm' - super colours and feel.

  4. Congrats on selling the house - it is just beautiful and I bet the new owners are over the moon with it! I hope you will show us your new home as well in such a lovely film!
I love that your muse celebrated the good things and you have made some great pieces - love the hockey piece and your new painting in blues and greens!
I have managed to do a nice spring cleaning in the house and studio! So my muse is also celebrating just now!
    Happy weekend and happy arting!

    1. You're so right, Susi - the new owner is all excited (but mostly about the shop at back, where he can keep his 'toys'). You're spring cleaning, and I'm spring messing - it must be because we're on opposite sides of this globe. :D

  5. Win, so you still have two months until you move to make art. Just as long as you kept your own stash. Congrats.

    1. I still have enough stash to make art for the next two decades, Gay - perfect, right?!

  6. Golly Win I don't know how someone in the throws of moving has energy to keep creating fabulous artwork... you are a wonder.
After watching your beautiful video I was ready to move in until I realized I didn't have to move because my walls are the same golden color as yours and yes I have a red couch...it made me laugh to know I have holes in my head to match the marbles in your.
This week I have been moving too. We are getting new carpet in most of our house. So we have to move all the furniture, art supplies, clothing, computers etc, into the three rooms that aren't getting carpet. I have a bathtub full of clothing...lol I'm doing artwork on the kitchen table and sleeping on the floor. It's like moving without going anywhere. All of this is suppose to come to a happy and I hope beautiful end next Wednesday... I worry because it is scary choosing carpet for your whole house from a three inch sample. My fingers are crossed.
I am so happy you have found a new place to call home especially that it is close to all your friends...but does it have and art room?

    1. Oh, I'm laughing now, Deann - of course we have matching walls and couch! How could it be otherwise? :D I'm a tad concerned that your bathtub is full of clothes, only because it must make it rather tight for showering. With all the colour in your life, I'm wondering whether you've chosen a neutral carpet - I suspect not, my friend! :D

  7. That hockey spread is gorgeous and it cracks me up. I've been wondering when you'd get to distilling the China trip down into art. It was five years after we left Chain Lakes and ranch country before I went on the binge of painting branding and cowboy themed art - with lots of COWS and CALVES. Sometimes the delayed reaction takes time!

    1. Thanks, Alice - that spread just makes me laugh too. It's funny how long things can take to gestate - imagine five years in the making with your cows and calves.

  8. Oh Win! That was so fast!! OMGosh!! Your home is beautiful! I was sad watching the video "(
All the art, gardening and memories made there...
Do we get to see a video of the new condo as well? Will there be a place for your art and husbands gardening?
Well I am happy your muse came back out to play! Yay!
    sending hugs my friend! xoxo

    1. Fast, fast and fastest, Jackie; we're agog at the speed of it all. While we are sorry to see this lovely home go, the condo is marvellous, and with an even bigger studio. How could one beat that? ;-) Video? Not sure - the condo wasn't even listed but when we asked our extraordinary realtor for what we wanted, she magically provided it, bless her! Details to follow when available! Big hugs, my friend! xo

  9. Congratulations on the sale and purchase, such exciting times. Having been through it a couple of times over the past few years. We are now settled into our new home and enjoying the area and community. Your current home is lovely with gorgeous views, I assume you will still have them at the new place. Take care through the 'fun' of purging/packing and moving :) Hugsx

    1. Many thanks, Shirley; we're very excited. While our condo doesn't have the same view, we have only to walk around the corner to see it! And with all the purging, cleaning and clearing we've done in the past months, the packing and moving will be a breeze! xo

  10. Oh OH OH... your home is just GORGEOUS Win. What a great treat to see inside. It made me teary eyed thinking that you were leaving it. What will your hubby do for a garden? Will you have a studio in the condo? Yes - full of questions. Well, never mind... I bet if I read above I will find some of the answers - ehehehehhe - didn't do that. It was great to see your art back on the table and lovely creativity in process again. Xj.

    1. Many thanks, Joi - our new condo is going to be pretty special too! We're fortunate to be moving just four blocks away or so, with John starting a container garden, of course. :D The condo studio is just a tad bigger than the one I have now, so I'll have to put up with that, I suppose. :D Lots of things to look forward to in our new home! xo
